Nespresso

I’ve had various Nespresso machines for a good few years now and have to admit that the presence of a store in Birmingham was one of the things that drew me here!
All Nespresso stores will sell machines and pods and provide samples but differ a bit in the execution. This one is pretty good, but not quite the 5 star experience I think they imagine they provide for «members». The waits can be long, I’m not always offered a sample, and once actually just gave up after waiting 10 minutes for a sample and being ignored. I’d just bought a ton of capsules too. Staff are generally very pleasant though and do know their coffee.
All in all, it’s almost great, but not quite. A little more attention to wait times and more offers of samples would make it 5 star. And they’d sell more coffee to me too! Meanwhile, love the machines and the coffee. Feel a bit bad about the environmental impact of the pods, but they offer recycling bags that you can drop off or send via Collect+. Assuages the guilt somewhat!

This is one of the few Nespresso stores we have here in the UK and it’s located on the ground floor of Selfridges near the Food Hall section. Rather than buying the capsules online I venture down here to buy my coffee. There’s always a large selection on offer, including whatever special editions that have been released.
The service is excellent and the staff are knowledgeable when it comes to helping you decide which coffee is best for you. You can even have samples of them if you’d like which is served with a little biscuit (I tried three last time!).
You can purchase all the extras, such as the cups, saucers and holders. There is also a large selection of the appliances on offer. Additionally, as a fan of recycling myself, there is also a recycling box for your used capsules and free bags you can use to collect them up.
