The Albert is a fun Pub, right in the middle of the village, and while visiting the area we were lucky enough to come in, no reservations in hand, and they had room for us. The button mushroom starter with goat cheese appetizer was fantastic and I had The Albert Burger which was SO juicy and delicious. The atmosphere is very fun and I saw some big pints of beer on draft in their full bar. It also looks like you can get rooms to stay in on the upper levels, though we were staying over at The Belsfield which we really enjoyed. Other dishes of note are The Rocket Parmesan Salad and The Poached Breast of Chicken, all wonderful.

We went to the Albert twice while staying in Bowness. First night we just had drinks and after looking at the menu decided to come back a few nights later. We had lovely drinks, the crab cake starter, and both ordered salmon with mash. The crab cakes were good, a bit spicy. The main course of salmon was great! The Albert also has great service and warm atmosphere

We came in search of Cumberland sausage and was not disappointed! We had a quick stop here while I was on a Contiki tour and chose this charming pub for lunch. Although a bit on the expensive side the meals were of a considerable portion and very very tasty!

Looking for something local, but not so local that the locals glare at you when you walk into their boozer? This place will do nicely. An interesting selection of ales, I was drawn to the trooper as a result of its scary badge but the beer was really tasty. I found out later it was brewed in conjunction with Iron Maiden, which added a little rock and roll to my night. I ordered the shepherds pie which was served with some tasty veggies and a little sweet, red cabbage. Generous serve, quite tasty and served quickly by the lovely waitress. Nice space, quite light and with the large fireplace was very toasty. Not quite gastropub fare but pretty good nonetheless.

A big hotel/restaurant/pub in downtown town right on the corner the intersection. We walked around looking for a good place to eat and came across this place. Outside it was relatively quiet, but you walk through the doors and there is a lot going on. The bar is right in front of you when you walk in with rooms to the immediate left and right and also to the far left and right plus second floor seating as well. The immediate areas are very relaxed in style and comfort with big chairs and sofas. The far right had proper tables. Most people were their for drinks and the bar area was busy with people grabbing a pint and moving on to sit somewhere and not linger. There are only a few bar stools anyway. We ordered the fish and chips which seem to be what the pub was famous for. My wife ordered the tikka masala. The fish & chips were great, the tikka masala was okay. What is always great about British pubs is that if you don’t know what the beer tastes like, they are always happy to give you a taster. There are a few local beers on tap which were really good and some British favorites like Peroni. I don’t get that, sorry. At least I think there was Peroni. One or two ciders as well. What was also funny to notice, all the couples. The men all had pints and the women all had white wine. Not sure why that is either. Anyway, they have rooms as well. A family checked in at the pub!
