The items in here are just too lovely to put inside my flat. It seems that everything that gets put in my flat becomes dusty and filthy within the span of 2 minutes. It’s amazing, how dirty can build-up in so little a time. InHouse has a wonderful assortment of candles, clocks, tabletops, and coffee mugs. They also sell items for your bedroom, and have a great selection of bedsheets and cushions. The bedsheets and cushions here put the ones in my flat to shame. The ones in my flat also smell like cigarette smoke, so that doesn’t help with matters. And if you’re looking for comfortable sofas and mattresses, InHouse has you covered as well.

Until I went in InHouse Space yesterday, I’d always assumed it was a bed shop selling different bases and mattresses. I now know it’s actually an ethical home store that sells a mix of furniture and home décor. Based on Gloucester Road in the North Laines, it’s a medium size shop surrounded by cool design shops, fashion boutiques and jewellery stalls. Admittedly, a lot of the space is taken up by a variety of wooden beds but they also sell stylish and environmentally friendly sofa-beds, chairs, lamps, cushions, bed linen, wine-racks, umbrella stands, silicon coat hooks and kitchenware. The thing I loved most about the shop however, was it’s collection of London Bus blinds. You can buy these framed from £125 a pop and they look fantastic. The only question is, which number and destination? London Bridge or Brixton? Gotta be Brixton, right?:

InHouse Space is a small bed and bath shop, made a bit smaller by the two beds on display. I was more interested in the home décor items, like the clocks made from recycled coffee cups(!) the mugs and money banks with the instantly lovable sheep character, «Herdy.» Prices were a bit on the steep side(mugs were £10 each) but I did see a couple bargains hidden in the mix: Recycled wool blanket for only £20. The selection, like the shop, is small, but they do have a website you can order from — or use for a sneak peek at the style.

This is a really sweet little home décor shop next to Brighton Sausage Co. The shop is presented so that when you step in it looks like you have just entered someone’s lovely bedroom where all the items happen to have price tags! There’s a really nice mix between fresh white contemporary light shades, bedding and bright stripes of colour in the the rack of cushions on one wall, the super soft recycled wool blankets from Tweedmill(really reasonably priced!), and some great bold Linum fabrics and linens. This is also one of the few places in Brighton that I have seen vintage bus blinds– with great destination names in crisp white font– available in nice frames. I also love the stunning fifties style Australian hardwood furniture– all made from sustainable forests– great bed frames and a fantastic chest of drawers.
