We visited the park View on 03/03/2014 and even though it was a Monday night the pub is welcoming and has a good atmosphere. The food was excellent it was hot, a good sized portion and of very good quality. It far exceeded my expectations of pub grub! I will definitely recommend this pub and will be going back for sure.

Park View is one of the pubs nearby that I regularly visit and the only time I was disappointed here was when they ran out of Sunday Roasts! This pub is large and spacious and has a good selection of food and drinks which are reasonably priced. They usually have some lunch deals here too which your wallet would appreciate. Their menu isn’t spectacular but the food is good and can be quite filling.

Having recently moved from Seven Dials to Preston Park I was keen to find a new local pub to frequent… and the Park View is it! On the day of our move we had a break half way through and popped in for a bite to eat. Friendly bar staff and lovely outdoor space. Food is ok, wasn’t blown away by it so maybe they can improve here a bit, but all in all a good boozer!

Time was when this pub was a busy, thriving, comfortable and warm pub to be in, and had great food. Todays experience was sooooo disappointing. Dark, cold and no atmosphere at all. Lyn had to ask for the lights to go on, to cheer the place up. Terrible seating. The food was very mediocre but he prices weren’t! Lyn and Pat had Half Roast Shropshire chicken, herb butter, baked half tomato, red wine gravy and fries, all for £9.75sounds good but that’s all. I had Beer Battered Haddock, Skin on chips, crushed peas and tartare for £8.75. To be fair the fish was excellent and the tartare was, as they say, To Die was that good. BUT the rest ie chips were hard, overcooked and warmed up. When I spoke to the staff, he said, Yeah, I quite agree and disappeared. Service poor, attitude poor. likely return = poor. I’ve given TWO for the fish! Vastly overpriced for the standard provided.

Food indifferent. Takes ages to get served but the garden is nice.

A large pub on the northern end of Preston Park, with a large outdoor area. I’ve only been a couple of times to this pub, and it has been fairly quiet, but my experiences have not been too bad. The pub is spacious and traditional in style, painted in dark colours with wooden floors and a large bar area, with plenty of tables for food customers. At the front is a substantial area of decking, which faces south and so catches the sun. They have a fairly substantial food menu, and out food arrived reasonably quickly and, although a bit pricey(£7 for veggie burger and chips — though this is fairly typical for Brighton) was perfectly edible and the portions were certainly generous. They had a couple of real ales on tap on both visits. It has a reputation for being a bit hit and miss on service, but was fine on both my lunch-time visits.

My original review of this place stated –Filthy glasses, sullen staff and a complete con if you order a soft drink(they fill your glass to the brim with ice). I recently had to go back again for my niece’s birthday bash and this time experienced the food. Yikes! I had fish stew which consisted of a single piece of White fish the size of two matchboxes which was so tough I needed a knife to get through it! There were also three mussels but one was still closed. And that was it, all for £9.75. If I could take back the one star I certainly would.

A good choice for a meal and pint when up near Preston Park, it has a well rounded traditional pub food menu, lots of pints on offer and lots of different places to sit, including the grand beer garden, great for an outdoor burger on a hot day when the bbq’s on. It is also a bargain and still manages a good menu. It wouldn’t be my usual choice pub wise and it seems pretty standard, but it has a great mix of people there and a very relaxing vibe helped along by the outdoor space and the very friendly staff as well as the Salsa lessons which spice things up a bit if you are inclined to dance. A good function room for parties too.

A large pub which is a strange mix between a suburban family place, and a modern, fashionable gastropub. Outside, the garden is mostly paved and is on several different levels, with umbrellas for shade on hot days. Inside, the main bar is upstairs, and is light and airy with modern décor and a chandelier. There’s also a further bar area downstairs. Justifiably known for its food, there’s an extensive menu with well done, freshly made pub favourites — burgers, fish and chips, stews… This is a great choice as somewhere for a family meal, or a Sunday roast with friends.

The Park view is located just near Preston Park and is a popular spot for Brighton and Hove Albion fans to meet before a game. Its fantastic in the warmer weather due to its huge patio garden outside and Saturday barbies! The menu here is fantastic and pretty reasonable considering the quality of food. The most popular day is Sunday when they do a fantastic roast(you need to get there pretty much at 1pm at the latest of you’ll be waiting a while). They have some great beers on tap(Harvey’s is lovely here) and also a couple of good ciders. Staff are all down to earth and the manager — Mike is always keen to try different nights of music to keep things interesting. They run various different events throughout the week including Salsa dancing lessons and quizzes, all of which are kept up to date on their website. Ideal place to go after a nice long walk in the park for a long lunch. The 5b bus route stops right outside the pub and runs straight back into town so no need for the car!

The have a fab garden with large umbrella and lot of seating. They have an over 21 policy unless young guests are dining in a family group which I guess is attempting to stop the fresher from make i a regular haunt. They do allow under 21s in the venue to dine with family. They have a variety of real ales pub food, cask marque acreditted ales, like Harvey and Darkstar. The menu consists of traditional pub grub including fish and chips, beef and dumplings and gorgeous burgers. Its great place to walk out to on a Sunday or pop into after an afternoon spent in Preston Park.

I’ve only ever been to the Park View in the daytime, but that’s the sort of place it feels like. It is has a great split-level beer garden with plenty of seating and a really nice view of leafy Preston Drove. The pub’s proximity to Preston Park makes it ideal for spilling in to after a hard day of sunbathing or tennis playing. The pub’s location also makes it a yummy-mummy hot spot and general well-off good looking family hangout– consider this a warning, if you happen in on a weekend day, you will have to contend with very well dressed whippersnappers scampering about the place! On the up side, they have lots of bottled ciders which is a big ‘tick’ with me and they do really good classic pub food: steak and ale pie, sausage and mash etc. There are salsa and tai chi classes on offer and I believe the pub even has a social club, if that’s your bag. What I especially like about this pub is that it’s in a beautiful building– its really nice to sit outside a pub and have a pleasing view, whichever side of the table you’re on!

The Park View is one of my locals and looks quite imposing or welcoming-depending on your mood and cashflow– perched as it is overlooking the northern exit of Preston Park. It is a huge pub with two floors of tables and two layers of terrace sheltered largely from the elements by a huge marquis. The heart of the pub is the floor you enter into-actually the upstairs as it’s on a hill– which houses the bar and three areas of wooden tables and benches to welcome you. The downstairs is ften quieter or can be used for large groups, and, on a tuesday, for salsa lessons! That’s right the landlord of this place is no slacker and besides the staple ales, lagers and spirits, they have guest ales and ciders, different events most nights including a quizz on a monday. And they serve food! Really good food at good prices-they often have five piund specials, otherwise count on six or seven pounds. In the summer go for the barbecue that they cook up on a huge grill outside. All other times, I am very fond of the burgers-meat or veggie. Both are excellent. They do a mean bloody mary/virgin mary as well. The full breakfast on a weekend is great too, only the coffee is a disappointment– weak, watery and so small!
