Sadly I think this place is gradually deteriorating. We eat here once or twice a year and the menu, service and interior which once really stood out are now just OK. Other pubs in Hove have upped their game whilst the pioneer has got a bit lost. Needs reenergising.

The food at foragers is so good that I should really give it 5 out of 5 but they forgot our booking(which we’d made two weeks before) so I’ve had to knock off a point. We went for a roast here. The food was very impressivealmost gourmezmore quality than quantity. So you won’t be stuffed just pleasantly satisfied. The wait for the food was quite a while but the service was really good. Despite being really busy and the staff rushed off their feet, they still found time to come and let us know there was a delay(twice).

This place has a great Sunday roast, with all organic and free-range meats from local farms. If you are a meat eater, then this is the spot. The Argentinian wine was spot on too, really quite tasty. Seating was comfortable, conversation was great, I would definitely go back. Not a place for a vegetarian, but delicious all the same.

This is a great little pub tucked away in a quiet corner of Hove. The walls are decorated in an intriguing variety of art work that draws the eye. Its a great pub for catching up with friends and the food ain’t half bad either! They specialise in locally sourced, and where possible foraged(hence the name!) foods including wild greens and herbs, as well as locally reared meats and game. It also has a nice seating area outside, great in the summer.

Strictly focussing on Sunday Roasts — we were rather disappointed with the portions particularly the veg — 3 carrots, 1 parsnip, 1 roast potato considering the price though I understand people will say it reflects in the quality and where the food is sourced — I just wished I could have tasted the difference. Or perhaps it was a cunning ploy to leave us feeling hungry enough for a dessert(which we did — again, nothing to write home about). Don’t get me wrong, the food is nice but nothing particularly stood out and being the first time I’ve ever eaten here, it’ll be some time before I choose to eat here again though I do love this place for a drink and a social.

I have to agree with the previous reviewer. This is another one of those pretentious, overhyped places that charges top dollar for basic food with pretty average service. Last time we went, the people that came in after us were seated before us and then the waiter just disappeared and started serving drinks. I looked right at him, as he said he would be right back and he just blanked me. We turned around and walked out. We actually live pretty close, so would be regulars if it was any good. Fortunately, there are loads of better, cheaper and friendlier options within just a few minutes, whether it’s a drink or some food you’re after. Leave this place to the pretentious crowd with more money than sense and no taste buds.

This place has some really good food and produce ethics. Everything is 100% organic and free-range and the meat comes from a local farm. You can tell in the taste of the food — especially the veg that tastes so different from the the mass produced supermarket/cash and carry rubbish. The pub does look a little pretentious from the outside but don’t let that fool you, inside the staff and the whole atmosphere is really nice and down to earth. I had a fantastic rump steak a few weeks ago in there, really well cooked and perfectly seasoned. The food isn’t cheap but is worth every penny.

Hove is home to a number of fine establishments, be it restaurants or delis. The Foragers combine a number of great elements of what Hove offers and also what British pubs and restaurants offer. As a pub, this is a lovely place to drink. You can get a good selection of lager, wine and spirits, all with a relatively friendly smile. It is as a restaurant that The Foragers really excels however, offering locally sourced modern food, all to a fantastically high level. Nothing here is cheap, but The Foragers is good enough that it deserves to be contemplated against some of the city’s best eateries.

Hove favorite the Forager is slightly out of the way off Church Road, so it avoids visits from tourists, but still attracts a large crowd of local revelers. It’s small but perfectly formed with a couple of on-street picnic benches out the front. Its reasonably priced for the area ad has an array of real ales. Its easily one of the best pubs in Hove with its cozy atmosphere and friendly vibe.

One of the better known pubs in Brighton and Hove, and an unusual find in this residential area. From the outside, it looks very much like a standard traditional pub, but inside is more part bar/part gastropub sophistication. It is the food that many come for, and which the place is most known for. The menu changes often, so I can’t recommend any particular dish, but it is all good, incorporating locally sourced foods and some unusual ingredients, always seeming to include(true to the name) some foraged vegetables — a wonderful concept., which really demonstrates the owners dedication to good food in my opinion. As a place to drink, it’s also not a bad choice, with a good amount of seating and a patio garden at the back. I generally prefer my pubs with a bit of a cosier feel than the Foragers offers, but for food it’s hard to beat.

Rarely do I find myself returning to one place so often but, as The Foragers is up there in my top five pubs in Hove, it’s no surprise. Firstly, the food is always spot on. Cooked to perfection and consisting mostly locally sourced ingredients, the menu is by far one of Hove’s best. What’s more is that The Forager isn’t going all-out to impress. It’s still a normal pub, good for a relaxed pint or a bash on the gamblers. I think that’s what makes this different from other, more committed gastropubs in the area. The idea of locally sourced ingredients is very chic at the moment but the simplicity behind The Foragers’ concept and its delivery is what makes it stand out. With a spacious outdoor area, DJ nights and regular comedy events it’s simply a good pub, whatever your personal bent. However, if you’re looking for a healthy meal, full of untried ingredients The Foragers is one of the must-visit spots in Hove. It will both satisfy and educate.

This is a really popular traditional pub in Hove, Its slightly off the beaten track but its not a very well kept secret as it gets v.busy. if your looking to eat I would suggest calling ahead as I’ve often had to wait for a table. Sunday lunches are particularly popular. The have DJs at the weekend and a regular comedy night on Tuesdays. The menu consists of an array of posh pub grub which is a little bit more pricey than normal but worth every penny! The venue It has gorgeous outside garden which is lush is the sunshine,

Walking from Brighton Pier to Due South in cowboy boots is fine. Walking from Brighton Pier to The Forager requires more sensible footwear. Luckily, The Forager was worth the long hike and the stupid blisters. There’s a spacious beer garden in the back and plenty of seating in the main bar and back room for more chilly days. The staff are friendly and welcoming, the music is mellow and they have a tempting selection of great quality food and drink. I usually opt for the 8 year Havana Club Rum but since it was only mid-day, I settled for an Americano and a hallumi sandwich. Both arrived within 10 minutes and hit the spot p-e-r-f-e-c-t-l-y. At busier times, you might have to wait for a table but trust me, it’s worth it. The food here is all local and organic and a small portion of it is foraged, hence the title. I’m aiming to go back in a few weeks to try one of their famous Sunday roasts. I’ll just make sure I’m wearing sneakers next time!

My favourite pub in Hove. Fantastic food(many of the ingredients are foraged, hence the name), but isn’t just another bland gastropub; instead it manages to balance being a great place to eat with being an equally great place to drink. DJs on the weekend nights(the Heaven Knows I’m Miserable Now night of old school indie is always very good) and the staff are always very friendly. Beer garden in the summer is a very good sun trap!

I went here on a friday evening. Luckily we were told to book by friends that had been before saying it gets busy for food, there were completely right the whole time we were there people were constantly coming in looking for a table. Most settling for a beer whilst waiting. Anyway the place is great hidden away in the back streets of hove. Pub atmosphere is great and the food is to die for. I think the owners have tried to stay away from the gastro pub theme that seems to be arriving in hove and have just produced a great pub to go down and meet with friend have a few drinks but have added the excellent food to go with it. What more could you want. This will now be one of my local even though I live in portslade. Great Place

The Forager is a great pub hidden in a residential side street in Hove. Whilst there is a big emphasis on the food here, it’s not just another gastropub, but instead feels like a proper boozer that just happens to serve fantastic food at the same time. Weekends nights they are DJs and they also have a comedy night on Tuesday’s during the week. The atmosphere is relaxed but good. Remember to book for Sunday lunches during the winter as it gets full up very quickly!
