Trevor Sorbie

Got an excellent haircut in Brighton from Alda. I’m actually a hairdresser myself and I felt throughly pleased at the quality of my haircut.

Given how lush Trevor Sorbie is as a salon (free wine! Free sandwiches!) and the reputation of the Trevor Sorbie brand, the prices aren’t too bad. I was very surprised when I wandered in having decided to get a hair-​cut on the spur of the moment; a stand-​by appointment (booked and had on the same day) will cost you £30 with a stylist, which goes up to £46 if you book in advance. I don’t know if this is usual, but I didn’t have to wait either, I was seen by a stylist straight away.
The slightly higher cost of pre-​booked appointments compared to other salons becomes evident in the extras, such as the complimentary refreshments which I have already mentioned and the head massage they give you when they wash your hair, but most importantly in the simple fact that your stylist will be very proficient, guaranteed. I asked my stylist how you go about getting a job at Trevor Sorbie, and the process sounded dragons-​den level intense, but it obviously works because the brand has an international reputation.

This is the best haridresser’s in Brighton in my opinion, and inevitably perhaps, one of the most expensive. I have been a dedicated customer for over two years, starting when I volunteered as a hair model for a new recruit. The new recruit turned out to be Shaun– the best hairdresser I have ever had– and I’m not alone in thinking this as he is now a senior stylist– he is that magical mix of skilled and attentive, so that what you ask for is what you get only slightly amended to better suit your hair, face and style. I love going there, I feel completely comfortable for the first time sitting in a hairdresser’s chair and always feel fabulous when I leave– which may or may not, depending on your opinion, be worth the fifty pound fee. I’ve had several of the staff cut my hair at different times when Shaun isn’t available and they are all impeccably trained and very friendly. They are good with little extras as well offering you a hot drink or glass of wine, magazines and a head massage every time you go.
