Farrows isn’t my regular chippie but, as my usual choice (the always excellent Friendchips) was closed, this was nearest.
To give the Farrows some credit, the chips were nicely crisped and not too greasy, plus the fish was tasty. Three large chips was plenty to feed four adults and four young children. Nice thick curry sauce too.
However, the staff who served me could definitely do with a few lessons about customer service. I was so disappointed by the way that they treated me that I will make a point of avoiding there in the future.
Also, a visible ‘cash only’ sign would be very useful. It can add to the frustration of customers who have already been waiting a long time to get served if they do not realise this.

Farrows fish and fhips! thats what I think it should be anyway, alliteration has to be the best form of advertisement!
Small portion of chips, pot of curry sauce, an episode the Wire on the telly and bob’s your uncle!
Seriousley though this is a pretty good place to pop for your fish and chip fix, it’s got a good reputation that is gaining momentum. It sounds like such a simple thing to make some chips, but to keep up a good standard that everyone expects and keep giving a chip that will taste the same whatever time of day, in whatever month and year is pretty good.
I shall swing by a year from now (probably next week to be honest!) and see if the chips still taste as good as I remembered.

It isn’t very often a fish a chip shop gets recognition beyond it’s local neighbourhood, but Farrows in Totterdown is fast becoming THE place to go to get your fish & Chips in Bristol and people will travel great distances for the pleasure.
I’ve tried the fish and chips from this place a couple of times and I’ve never been disappointed. Whether it’s the best in the city is debatable and I would need to sample the rest of them before giving it that award, but I would certainly say it is possibly the best I’ve ever eaten.
If you live nearby and this isn’t your local chipy then you’re either crazy or don’t know that it exists. Not sure I would travel great distances just to order from here as this is just a chipy after all, but if you love fish and chips and don’t mind the drive, by all means make the journey.

This popular chippy on the Wells Road has built up quite a dedicated following; indeed, I only heard how good it was when my wife was in hospital for a check-​up and another woman in there said that she couldn’t wait to get out so she could go straight to Farrows!
It’s a family run establishment which has landed a load of awards recently, including being the current Evening Post Chip Shop of the Year, and it’s easy to see why. It’s a friendly place with all the options you’d expect though the fish and chips is the specialty. It’s largely grease free, generous and tasty. It’s obviously not that good for you but you can’t have everything!

This is definately the best fish and chip shop that I have been to and eaten from in Bristol. It is on the Wells Road and quite well priced– definately worth paying a little more for the quality. Gone there about 4 times in the past year and I don’t eat a lot of takeaways so goes to show that I like it a lot.
Staff seem reasonably friendly too.

One of the best fish and chips shops I have been too, real good value for money and big portions. Also the food is very tasty, their fish, their chips, their curry sauce.
One thing I will mark them down for is their manner and service.
Its usually quick, however I have found them a little moody or rude on more than one occasion. So im afriad they will lose a star for that. It does not stop me going though.

Great chip shop, apparently has won awards for the quality. Prices are quite reasonable and the portions are huge!
