Wong Tai Sin

With so many take aways to choose from, not just with regard to wells road and Oxford street but the whole of Bristol it is difficult to stick with one, or even for that matter change from the one you are comfertable with and give a fresh new outlet a chance, but Wong Tai sin is worth giving a go.
The food is cooked well, and is relatively grease free, although you still don’t escape that guilty bloated feeling when you are half way through your food.
The place is clean and everyhting is served up with care, a nice little establishment.

If you’re the type to go by appearances, you’d probably think twice about stepping foot in this little takeaway: it just doesn’t look too inviting. However, to dismiss Wong Tai Sin would be to do it a grave injustice as it’s actually a damn good takeaway. I’ll admit that I was dubious about the place when I first laid eyes on it, and when I saw the ridiculously cheap menu I wasn’t sure whether to be doubly dubious or trés impressed. So I braced myself for a dodgy stomach, seized the moment and went ahead with my order. Opting for a beef curry, which was a jaw droppingly cheap £3.50, I tentatively chewed the first mouthful and was shocked to discover how scrumptious the dish actually was. The rest was woofed down with vigour and Wong Tai Sin became my local takeaway joint thereafter. I suggest you give it a go…

This is one of a glut of takeaways on the left of the Wells Road as you head up from the Three Lamps Junction. There’s plenty of competition around here (there’s an award-​winning chip shop next door), though I usually opt for Wong Tai Sin, though not for the Chinese (I’d rather get a curry) but their secret weapon: fish and chips.
This comes in a decent size, it pretty grease free, very tasty and costs only £3 or so. The shop is no great shakes (a simple affair with a counter and not much else) but the food’s great and that’s surely the most important thing.

Not a bad Chinese takeaway, but the meals are quite different to what you would expect!
