Pizza Express

Visited Bristol as a weekend away for my boyfriend. After walking around for 40 minutes looking for an independent restaurant we finally settled for pizza express. Tried to go to the one in the centre of town but was told a 40min wait at least! So we travelled back to this one.
Seated quickly but a young girl who was friendly but a tiny bit awkward.
This was one of the best superfood salads I have had at any of the pizza express restaurants I’ve visited. It was fresh, with generous portions of each. Despite forgetting the mozzarella to begin with, they bought it over on a side plate sharpish. The meal was very enjoyable and my boyfriend loved his meat pizza.

Although I’m a huge fan of the dough balls, I’l don’t love the food here anymore. The pizzas are hit and miss — they’ve often been cold — and the atmosphere at this particular branch has altered for the worse since the refurb a few years ago. While I can justify paying the bill when there are two-​for-​one offers on the go, paying full price just doesn’t seem like good value for money to me, especially when there Are so many other places to get amazing pizza in Bristol.

Reliable pizza

A modern stylish restaurant just off Park Street with a welcoming lively and friendly atmosphere. Whilst being large the restaurant retains an intimate feel.

Not too bad but this branch of Pizza Express is certainly not one of their best. We we went a while ago it was very busy and it took a while to be seated — we would have been seated much quickly if staff had been more efficient in clearing tables and setting out new tablecloths/​cutlery etc.
The food wasn’t bad but not really worth the price we paid — quality was not great.

Paid this place a visit Saturday evening after not being for a while. Expected good things as the service was impeccable on previous occasions. This has always been a fave spot of mine but this visit seriously disappointed.
We waited over 10 minutes to be seated even after booking a table. The staff just blatantly ignored us until they had finished chatting to each other. I’d booked a table for 6 but we were shown to a table for five so my nephew had to fetch another chair and set of cutlery as the hostess had already disappeared.
10 minutes later my brother had to ask for menus as none seemed forthcoming. I could understand if the restaurant was busy but it was empty bar a couple of tables.
Without giving us time to order drinks the waitress then disappeared again… shocking. Other staff were floating around but also seemed intent on ignoring us.
After eventually getting served, placing our orders we waited patiently for our meal to be served.
As always the food there is exceptional, which is how this place warrants any stars at all from me.
I decided against leaving a tip as our service was appalling and will hesitate on revisiting. If it had not been for these money off vouchers I would have only given it one star.

If I had to pick a top Italian restaurant list, Pizza Express would be up there in my top 5. A great restaurant chain that keeps serving a high quality of food with a good service every visit.
On my last visit I tried their new Pollo Pancetta ~ Thinner crust pizza with a red and yellow pepper sauce instead of a tomato base. As usual, a very tasty pizza.
One more BIG PLUS is that I saved £9.00 by using my Invitation card, which inclines me to give it that extra star ~ Top marks for Pizza Express

Usually good pizza at a reasonable price. This one is usually busy though and can be slow service. Nice and friendly staff.

I like Pizza Express! This one is pretty standard as they go — the only downside being that people seem to be somewhat rammed into the restaurant and everyone seems to be in a rush. It is also often quite noisy in there! However if youre after a tasty pizza at a reasonable price then Pizza Express is for you! The menu could also do with updating i think as there arent very many veggie options.

Not as impressive as the other branches in Bristol with a less friendly atmosphere, indifferent staff and tasteless food. Didn’t feel comfortable taking my son in here despite the fact that he is always made welcome at the other branches. Not expensive.

Nice enough building and staff (although they were very busy so service wasn’t fast). But our pizzas had chewy/​soggy under-​cooked bases. I wouldn’t go back.

We took our children here for a meal recently. The staff were friendly, the building was nice. And I have to say the kids ate all they were given. But oh my god the pizzas we ordered were truly foul. Pizza bases that were so tough they had the texture and taste of cardboard, topped with nasty insipid tomato stuff and cheap cheese followed by cheap plasticky black olives. To give them their due, the staff were very understanding about it and took the cost of the pizzas off the bill. I won’t be going back though.
