Savers! A shop that’s got the bare essentials of any big supermarket, at a discounted price. Sounds good already eh? I come here when I need anything for the home. They stock washing basics, toiletries, make up, baby bits, and now they’ve started stocking some food too! On top of all the things here that are already cheaper than usual, they always have offers on. The main draw are their prices; I just paid 89p for Vaseline, the new Loreal Perfect Colour 10 hair dye for £3.99, and 20 bin liners for 69p. It isn’t as if you’re getting lower quality for a lower price, as all their items are of known brands. A really great shop to save some pennies!

Laura got me on to this little pharmacy type place. It is poifect for stocking up on essentials before a festival. If you go to Boot’s you often end up paying through the nose(although the advantage points and offers are some consolation) but at Savers you just get what you need, no frills, no tempting offers because everything is already so cheap. It sells hayfever medicine cheaper than anywhere else in town and there are all the main brands of shampoos, hair dyes and moisturisers etc at cut prices. I don’t know how they do it but it’s worth taking a detour if your toiletry stocks are running low.

If you thought that Superdrug was cheap then you really check out Savers. I picked up a Gillette razor there for £2(should have been nearer £10), hair dye for £3(rather than the £6 they were charging in Boots) and vitamins for less than a quid(like a 10th of the price they are in Holland and Barratt!). They also sell cheap batteries, disposable cameras and mobile phone top up. In a way it’s a bit like a pharmaceutical pound shop but not everything is a pound. The shelves are stocked with branded goods which you’d be hard pushed to find cheaper anywhere else. Same is true for cleaning products. And while they don’t have anywhere near the range of cheap perfume that the nearby cheap perfume shop does, they do have a reasonable selection which is even cheaper than the duty free fare you’d find on an in flight plane brochure.
