Based on all the great reviews, I stopped here for lunch. Thought I’d go with something standard, so ordered a burger and chips. Also chicken for my little one. Burger was made from frozen prepackaged, as well as the chips and chicken. With so many reviews touting the food as «amazing» I assumed it would be fresh made. Too bad, the staff were friendly and the service was really good, nice little place that could have been so much better.

This is a great little place. Food is lovely and very varied — something for everyone, and some of the mexican dishes come with insanely hot chillies on the side which are great for a laugh if you can persuade your friends to eat them. Staff are friendly and service is good and its not too expensive either. Definitely worth a visit.

Marlowes is an intriguing restaurant. When you enter you are greeted with retro film prints. The menu is well priced, although if I had to make a slight criticism, the menu as a whole has to much going on to say that Marlowes is, for example, a mexican restaurant or a british restaurant. Don’t get me wrong, the food is extremely tasty and the atmosphere cosy!!! Thoroughly recommended.

When visiting Canterbury, I am always sure to visit this restaurant. They have a fantastic menu and a real sense of fun and excitment that they maintain through thoughtful service and attention to detail. Their Bring Your Own policy when ordering main meals is also fantastic, and I imagine is what makes it popular with the student population. The menu is a fusion of traditional British fayre such as steak, bangers and mash and a gorgeous chicken pie as well as an extensive mexican menu which is always fully loaded. The deserts are great, although i am usually only able to manage a cocktail — again these are a great choice and staff are happy to make up alternatives for you. A real not so hidden gem in the centre of Canterbury.

A fund restaurant closely linked to the local Marlowe theatre. The atmosphere is cosy and friendly with lots of memorabilia decorating the walls. To describe the food I would use the word plentiful. You really won’t leave here hungry and the food tastes so good you won’t leave a thing!

Great little restaurant. Un-pretentious and fun, its always busy, but always able to squeeze you in. The food is Mexican/Americana, but there’s pretty much something for everyone on the menu. The best time to visit is just before Christmas when they put up their now-legendary christmas decorations. You have to see it to believe it.

Fantastically quirkly little restaurant on the high street near Westgate. The food is amazing and the menu is full of variety — fajitas, steak, burgers, pasta and delicious salads. They also do cocktails and liquer coffees and if you all book a table to eat you can actually bring your own wine for a small charge(or you used to be able to). The decoration is amazing — old film/theatre posters everywhere — and especially at Christmas with decorations ahanging everywhere.

It is indeed a very quirky little place in canterbury and definately worth the visit. Food is nicely cooked and definately tasty. Its nearer to westgate towers rather than the top end of canterbury but its inbetween all the other restaurants. So keep your mind set on one place and just make the visit. It definately worth it. The corkage is great, it really is worth taking your own and you end up already saving yourself some money. Great night out and definately fills you up. I personally don’t like spicy food, if you let them know this they will make your food with less heat and you will enjoy it more like i do if this is your case too!

This place is so fun! There’s black and white photos everywhere, and decorations everywhere at christmas. The staff are really nice and once a guy who worked there gave me his Earring! It was this huge dangly yellow moon and it is so funny. I don’t wear this though and please note that! lol. If you love Mexican Food then give here a try. Its yummy. They do other food too so if there is someone in your group that isn’t that keen then there is always other dishes on the menu. Also as someone who enjoys wine but hates restaurant prices, you can take your own wine here and they will just charge you the corkage. I can’t remember the price for this but i seem to remember thinking this is reasonable. The portions that always have come out of here have been really quite large. At christmas the decs look really funny as it looks as though they have literally thrown them up! But it always seems to be booked up throughout december with parties so if you want one there then don’t forget to book it early. Thumbs up from me.
