Oh how I love this store. I am a big girly girl at heart, and this store really allows me to indulge in that side of my personality. As the name suggests, there are plenty of polka dot things here which suits me fantastically as I love love love polka dots. I’ve just moved into a new place, and while I know I don’t need anything new, I just can’t help buying things in places like this to decorate my house with, or just because I want even more cups. This is also a really great place to buy a gift for someone, whether you want something simple, or something a little more unusual. The only problem I have with this store is that it’s a real pain to get to, and I have to make a special trip if I want to get something from here. Otherwise though, any tourists visiting Cardiff Bay should absolutely pop in and have a look around.

Pop your head in an feel very uncomfortable. Half the stuff and I literally mean stuff, as in useless tat, is everywhere. I read the previous reviews and so it seemed odd that it was popular, well at least to me. Yes if your a bloke and your other half drags you in kicking and screaming, your alternative is to check out a bar or pub for 30minutes while she looses all common sense. I couldn’t see any real use for a lot of it, unless you want to live in la la land and pretend to have tea parties with your friends or should I say your stuffed teddies etc. Oh and please don’t expect you can explain to me why it’s so great. I’m sure for the girly girls out there you might enjoy this oddball shop, but for me I’m out! I ridicule in jest, but seriously there are limits.

This is a girlie girls dream! Everything is pink, dotty and super cute cute cute! I have bought many items from this shop ranging from photo frames to christening gifts. The lady who works there is always smiling and its refreshing to see somebody who always seems to enjoy being at work. Girls you will love this shop but be sure to leave your partner at home as there are far to many things hanging/dangling from every nook and cranny for him to safely enter and exit without breaking something.

Are you a man? Then ignore this review as you do not need to enter this shop… UNLESS you are dragged in here by your girlfriend as I was. Are you a woman or more precisely a girly? Then you will probably like this shop but I have no idea why. It’s just full of… silly girly stuff that i have no idea what you’d do with. Apparently its full of very pretty nick-naks that would look lovely around your bedroom /house /head etc etc Ok I’m out of my depth so all I can say is if you’re a girl you’ll enjoy it, if you’re a man you won’t unless you’re a man who likes wearing dresses, baking cakes and wearing make up.

Quaint and kitschy — that’s how I’d sum up Polka Dot. Much to my surprise, the shop, which appears diminutive from the outside, is actually situated on three floors and filled with crafts, stationery and other goodies like vintage-style home goods(I nearly bought the«My farts hospitalise small children» magnet but decided against it). I’d say this kind of shop caters mostly to tourists looking for a creative souvenir to bring back for their female friends, but that didn’t stop me from eying up several items worthy of birthday gifts for my girls here in Cardiff — I dare you to walk in here and not find something you like! Polka Dot is definitely one of the better shops in Mermaid Quay, and a perfect place to buy a knick-knack that you admittedly may not need, but would be a sweet addition to your home or office.

Polka Dot(formerly ‘Eva’) is a quirky little gift and artsy-craft shop in Mermaid Quay, sandwiched between Ladbrokes and Moksh. Owner Natasha Tot has an eye for cute retro and polka dot designs, and the shop is a riot of bright colours and cheery patterns. From candles, soaps and jewellery to photo frames, egg cups, mugs and handmade cards, Polka Dot is a good place to look for a slightly kitsch gift or something to brighten up your own home. Many of the things Natasha stocks are made by local craftspeople, too — and there’s a range of Welsh souvenirs if you’re a visitor.
