Attention! JRC Global Buffet has taken over Cosmo — Cosmo is no longer there, it is now a branch of JRC Global Buffet. I had originally meant to come here when I thought there was a Cosmo in Cardiff(I had gone to one in Swansea previously and fell in love). Couldn’t find Cosmo and was really disappointed, until I heard from a friend that it had just been changed to JRC buffet. Atmosphere: Very sleek and stylish. Dining is on the 2nd floor, so you have a great view of Cardiff Bay if you’re sitting by the large windows. Customer Service: Really great. We were greeted immediately and taken to our table, and our drinks came instantly. Additionally, they were really efficient with clearing the table of finished plates. A lot of buffets really lack in the service department. Food: To be honest, it is a bit inconsistent. First off, I’d like to point out that the variety of offerings is the best of any buffet I’ve been to in South Wales yet. They had build-your-own burger, Chinese food, Indian, and also a teppanyaki grill for a chef to cook food to-order. There were a few items at this restaurant that I didn’t think I would ever see again given how Wales is starved of authentic Chinese food. There was Chinese-style roasted pork belly, which tasted like home and something I would recommend to anyone(don’t worry, you don’t need an adventurous spirit to try it). Other Chinese foods that I was happy seeing served: Potstickers, Siu Mai, Char Siu Bao, this is some authentic shit and I recommend you try all of it. The highlight of my meal though was the teppanyaki grill, where as I mentioned earlier a chef makes things fresh to order. I asked for scallops and salmon, both cooked beautifully and the scallops were so addictive that I came around again and asked for a second helping! There were a few downsides to the meal, but I feel like this is just due to the general staleness of food sitting out for a while on a hot plate. For instance, the chips didn’t have much turnover, so they were a bit stale and chalky. I’d be very happy to come back to JRC buffet, but I’d probably want to come back when there’s more of a peak time so food doesn’t stay sitting out too long!
