What to say… it’s a shopping centre, but it’s tiny, and, in fairness, it’s a lot better than the ghost town it used to be. As a type, we currently have Iceland, Home Bargains, New Look, jeanius, shoe zone, butchers, café, and the post office. It recently played host to a pop up mall, so hopefully it’s onwards and upwards!

Small shopping centre which houses Iceland, the card factory, home bargains, new look, a post office, shoe zone, jeanius, world of colour and cannon motors! I also thing there is a little place that sells bath bombs and the like. They also have etc which is a fab little shop that sells furniture and little trinkets along with a large range of Yankee candles! My fav! Handy to have so close to home if you just need bits a bobs or a last min outfit purchase! Large free car park here which means it is more so used as a walk through shortcut to the town centre!

Not much here in comparison to most shopping centres but it is handy enough. There’s a car dealer, Iceland, Shoe Zone, Home Bargains, Bön Marche, New Look, Post Office, Card Shop, Charity Shop, Genius menswear, Café and public toilets. Also ETC… love this shop, they stock a wide range of Yankee candles and warmers etc along with beautiful upmarket housing items, mirrors rugs etc. Large carpark with free parking.

A handy little shopping centre to nip into if you’re in the area, however I wouldn’t travel to go to it. It’s very small and there isn’t a lot to see in it. A few shops and a café are about the height of it. A lot of places have closed in it.

The DeCourcy Centre is Carrick’s answer to the shopping of the likes of Oxford Street in London. No, not really… It used to be busy enough before the big Tesco superstore opened, due to Tesco previously being located within the centre, however now, apart from visitors to New Look, it is generally just used as a ‘through area’ — people wanting a shortcut to the town centre. The DeCourcy centre never realised the potential that was intended for it. Even when it first opened, it was never filled to full capacity. Over the last couple of years, the centre has been looking increasingly tired and dilapidated, and it is now generally used as a meeting place for the elderly. Even a pound shop which only opened recently has just closed down, and as someone else mentioned, the gift shop Etc are also having their ‘closing down sale’ Sad times for the DeCourcy Centre.

The DeCourcy Centre is a bit of a rubbish excuse for a shopping centre. When I visited the other day more than half of the shops were closed. I know Carrick isn’t the centre of the universe, but come on, you could do a bit better than that! The ones that were open were Iceland, Bön Marche, Etc(a shop ) and Shoe Zone. The ones that weren’t were Café Aroma, the Library, Samantha’s Pound Centre, The Butchers, Rugs Etc and the home of Carrick Fm. Bad times.

Possibly the quietest shopping centre in Northern Ireland! It literally consists of just a hanfull of shops and a restaurant(which is quite good) and that’s about it. Its a shame because Carrickfergus is a great wee tourist hotspot due to the castle and lovely coast so you’d think they would ahave done something a little better than this. We’re not looking for a replica of Victoria Square here but really? Its hard to take this place seriously and the best pasr about it is the was out. Oh dear.

Erm, what to say about the DeCourcy Centre? I think I’ll quote my brother on this one — «It’s a place to shelter on a wet day». That says it all really… This shopping centre sounds an awful lot posher than it actually is, let me tell you. It’s just got the one floor, with Iceland, a library(in a shopping centre?!), New Look, Bön Marche, Café Aroma, Shoe Zone and ETC home and gifts(which is closing down). And that is it. Yep, six shops and a library(seriously, in a shopping centre?). Dire, to put it mildly. The number of shop units that are empty is really rather sad. Those who have been and gone include a butchers, Rugs Etc, Samantha’s Pound Centre(things *must* be bad) and Santa’s Winter Wonderland(it’s doubtful he’ll be back next year by my reckoning). The whole centre is dreary, bleak and downright insipid. I have no idea how the place has managed to stay open so long, particularly as the empty shop units greatly outnumber the inhabited ones. However, if it should ever rain and you’re in Carrickfergus(what are the chances…), you’ll know where to go.
