What a fabulous out of the way pub to visit. We were in South Wales visiting family when I fancied a glass of cider. We stopped in at the Plough and found they had a selection of at least 8 local ciders. I had dry one which was out of this world. This pub in an 13th century building was memorable. There was a roaring wood fire in a huge fireplace with pots hanging over the fire. Enjoyed visiting with area locals who told us some interesting history about the pub and area. As I was drinking my pint of local cider I watched sheep nestling each other in a field across the street. All added to the ambience. A true gem in a lovely part of the vale of Glamorgam in South Wales. No ghosts made their presence known to us.

The Plough and Harrow is a fantastic village pub which is ever popular with both locals and the more in the know townsfolk aswell. It’s a properly traditional pub, with low ceilings, old ornaments on the walls and a great tradiitonal menu. On summers days they also open up an outside area which serves burgers, bacon rolls and the like. The food here is always exemplary and well-priced and the staff are always super friendly. There’s a lovely outdoor seating area which is a spacious, chilled out place to enjoy a sunny day. It’s close proximity to Monknash beach also make it an ideal pit stop after a day by the seaside. I went in about two hours ago for a pint of Butty Bach, which is brewed in the Wye Valley. It’s a fantastic, strong bitter and one I always have when visiting here. The odd celebrity has been spotted within these walls and it’s not at all difficult to see why. In the local area, the Plough and Harrow is truly one of the finest traditional pubs.

Well known for its great food, fine ales, friendly atmosphere and lovely rural surroundings, this traditional pub is well worth a visit if you’re off for a visit to the Heritage Coast. The pub’s lunch menu includes lots of hearty Welsh dishes such as Glamorgan sausages and gastro pub-style classics. In the evenings they offer a wider variety with a regularly changing menu featuring some more unusual items such as smoked duck or mussels. There’s a huge beer garden that’s perfect for summer afternoons, and they have a good selection of Welsh beers and ciders. I just wish this was my local…

This is a lovely pub in a quiet area of the South Wales coast, and is worth visiting if only for the local. Here you might want to go check out my review of Monknash Beach. Apparently, The Plough and Harrow was awarded the honour of being one of the ten best seaside pubs by The Guardian. It’s not too hard to understand why. This is a traditional pub through and through. There’s no loud music or slot machines to be found here. Instead there are open fires, delicious meaty aromas and that summery smell of spilt cider from the bar. The staff are exceptionally friendly and show a great amount of attention to detail. The food in The Plough and Harrow is delectable. Really. You know how everyone’s favourite roast dinner is their own Mum’s? Not anymore; the Plough wins out. So, in short, I agree with Gareth.
