Cineworld

I’ve been coming here for all my movie needs since I was a child and they did the £1 Saturday Specials for kids and it’s a decent cinema.
It has the standard popcorn, ice cream and fizzy drinks available but it also has a little pick n mix shop hidden away in an alcove and an arcade in another corner.
The décor is a bit old fashioned — Bexleyheath hasn’t modernised in the way a lot of other cinemas in the area have but I think that adds to its charm. It’s quirky and reminds me of my childhood and that is never a bad thing!
It has a range of flat seated screens and raised seated screens, meaning you run the risk of paying to see the back of someone’s head for two hours instead of the movie, but if you get lucky and get a staggered seating screen, you’re golden.
It also has the added bonus of having a Sainsburys literally opposite so if you don’t want to buy anything from the cinema, pop to the supermarket, pick up a bag of toffee popcorn and munch to your heart’s content — they never check.

This is the cinema nearest to me so I use it a lot! I get student prices which is like £3 cheaper than a normal ticket. Cineworld is also one of the only cinemas that still does a decent sized large popcorn!

This cinema could really be called my local because it’s only 10 minutes by car. It’s nothing special, but it’s also not really rubbish. They show the normal blockbusters and not much more. It’s ok on a school day, but in half term I avoid it because it’s just full of teenagers who seem to pay just to sit in the cinema and talk on their phone or to each other or sometimes both! Overall, not a bad experience. But with Bluewater cinema nearby and Picturehouse in Greenwich also nearby, I find that I hardly visit.

This is a no frills cinema, seating is ok, has, if i remember correctly 7 – 8 screens, price of entry is ok, the cost of pop corns is like buying GOLD from the INCA’s, damn EXPENSIVE. Its clean, staff are friendly (atleast the mature ones!). Have used the cinema on numerous occasions with the family, never had an issue. Transportation (buses) is plenty, parking is via car park 1−2minutes away and its a stone throw away from The Mall (The Broadway) with all the shopping facilities and food outlets you could desire! So its in a GOOD LOCATION for an evening out! (nb: — it does tend to fill up with teenies, so can get abit loud!!).

The one star rating is simply because it’s my local — 5 minutes walk from home but the previous reviewers are right about the regulars!
However worse than that — it’s SO poorly managed. It’s usually quite dirty, the queuing system is random, especially when they mix the ticketing with the food, signage often out of date, wrong or completely absent, the ‘suits’ who are meant to keep the peace are totally ineffectual and staff often entirely lacking.
But much much much worse still — they only show the films that appeal to the lowest common denominator — if you want to see anything that regularly uses words of more than 2 syllables, this isn’t the place for you.
Cineworld management — have you wondered why the receipts are so poor here? See above!

Cineworld Bexleyheath is pretty much your bog standard Cinema. It’s still decked out with the kitschy lights and décor that I remember other cinemas having back in the day. This has one of two effects on me depending on the mood I’m in when I go. One, I’ll cringe and frown until I get to my seat or I’ll reflect in nostalgia until some kid called Chardonnay/​Chantilly/​Alloy/​insert own hurls abuse at their sis– I mean mother… That’s not me being snobbish, it’s just how this place rolls.
The main reason I would take a 40mins bus ride through TWO TOWNS to this garish neon film den is that it’s CHEAP! Unlike other cinemas they haven’t astronomically hiked the prices up making my ticket a steal at £5.10 as opposed to my local Showcase spanking me with £8.45
Like Daniel J said, there’s a lot of potential here. The screens are nice and the seats are comfy with a nice amount of leg room. Despite my height — I like to stretch out. Also there’s none of this book where you want to sit malarky just stand outside before you go in, eye up the competition and then do the slgihtly unnatural quick walk manouvre to secure your seat. Who said going to the cinema could not be a competitive event?
Sadly, again, like Daniel J said the clientel let them down. Chavs and ruuuuuudies taking phone calls from across the other side of the same row and throwing popcorn at people who just want to watch the film. Although points to you if you catch any of it in your mouth — again, competitive event. Now I tactfully plan my visits to school hours which shamefully makes me feel old but I want enjoy my film in peace and the odd rustle of popcorn, cough and a sneeze.

Cineworld cinema is not a patch on its Bluewater rival as it is dirty and often very busy.
The food and drink prices are expensive and they do not stock a great range to choose from.
On Tuesdays they do a promotion where you can get a seat for less than the normal ticket price and this is very popular. I would advise to buy your ticket in advance, especially for new films if you want to take advantage of this promotion.
Overall, this cinema is OK, but if I had a choice I would go to Showcase in Bluewater.

Bexleyheath Cineworld is much like all the other out of town cinemas I’ve been too, it kinda sucks.
The potential is there — they have nice screens and nice seats. I guess it’s the people visiting who ruin it more than really being able to put any blame on the staff. If you see a film here you’re likely to have the teen crowd who view throwing popcorn and making phone calls as more important than viewing the film, this is very frustrating. Unless you are there because you want to throw popcorn, in which case– party on.
My only real trouble with the actual staff is how they seem to let kids of any age slip into films of any certificate. Normally if you go see an ‘18’ you know you’re going to be safe from the annoying children who should be doing their homework. But not at Bexleyheath; they seem to have no restrictions, age-​wise.
If this is your only choice, then why not, seeing a film is better than seeing nothing. But if you have any other choices I would suggest you explore those first. A cinema with potential that unfortunately doesn’t pull through.

A typical multiplex cinema at the east end of Bexleyheath Broadway. There are 8 screens which show most of the latest releases. There are 3 local carparks, all within 200 yards and are Council owned & operated. They are the Cinema, Civic & Albion Road, the charges vary from 20−80p per hour to £3-£6 per day.
As with most cinemas the prices for food and drink are extortionate and they try to stop you bringing your own in. There is nothing special about this cinema.

One word always pops to mind when thinking of cineworld Bexleyheath, FLEAPIT! Ah but don’t let that put you off, you see Cineworld Bexleyheath even though it’s seats are broken and more than likely taped off half the time, even though it’s a bit smelly and normally cold. Even though the films sometimes come on too small or too fuzzy and you have to go and complain and even though it’s normally full of moronic kids chucking popcorn and making a racket well even though all those things Cineworld Bexleyheath still manages to capture that old charm that many large film emporiums have now lost. There’s lots of happy helpful staff and there’s 2 disabled loos which is good. You can’t take your own food in but hey that’s never stopped us sneaking it in especially as food and drink is very expensive there. Overall it’s worth a night out.

This isn’t a bad little cinema if you’re not prepared to travel to Bluewater, the chairs are quite comfortable and it has an ample number of modern screens, always showing the current blockbusters. It’s not cheap, nowadays around £8 a ticket I believe, but they do tend to do quite a few promotions such as orange wednesdays and various 2 for 1 offers can be had if you look in the right places.
There can be the general problems of kids ruining the films, but generally if you plan a trip when they are tucked up in bed you’ll have no problems at all. The food/​drink are overpriced much like any other cinema, I’d recommend taking some snacks in a bag if you want, the staff generally don’t care about that.
All in all this is a reasonable cinema, there are much worse and it’s the best in the local area.

The last few times I have been there I have been disappointed. The film got stopped after 10 minutes last time and then restarted again — not great wheny ou are watching a kids movie and some can’t understand why they are watching the same bit again.
I think its a bit run down now and needs a bit of an overhaul. The ticket machines often don’t work and the prices of food etc is very high.

There is always a good range of films on show. The cinema is in a central position so easily accessable by public transport. You aren’t allowed to take your own sweets of drinks in so it can be and expensive day out if you have several children to buy refreshments for. Having said that there are often special offers that can help save money in these difficult times.
