Allure Bar

As a blondie I don’t pay too much attention to my brows (though maybe I should, but like, meh). My sister however is a different story. When she came to visit, her brunette brows had gone a wee bit wild and my mother had not dealt with them appropriately.
Now, we’re not talking ‘child’ here, we’re talking teen with all the hormones and embarrassment that comes with the title. When the word ‘mono’ was mentioned, I made the executive decision to get on this.
We made our way to Allure for a good threading around closing time and the lovely woman set my sis up quickly. While I watched the extensive clean-​up operation, conversation was made and a bit of banter had.
The sis said the lights in that area were a bit bright given how sensitive her eyes became. But within ten minutes she was done! A cold compress reduced the redness, though I feel it could have been left a little longer.
£17, so not the cheapest around and I would wonder if it’s the skill level or the location that warrants the price (at a push, it’s the latter) but overall I was pleased and my sis ecstatic at her new streamlined face.

Wandered into the House of Fraser after making a rare trip into Edinburgh city centre. Feeling that I needed to spruce myself up having secured myself a proper job, I saw Allure bar and decided to give myself a right good plucking. Allure uses threading, which uses thread (funnily enough) to rip out large sections of unruly hair. Which is lucky, as apparently my eyebrows were sweetly described as bushy and ‘definitely in need’. Oh yeah, and if you think it hurts, surprisingly not as much as you would think it would.
With my nose a little out of joint regarding the frank comments being made about my brows, I settled back into the cramped confines of the tiny corner the Allure bar occupies. And I mean cramped. Naheed, the lady who tended to my brow forest, started off in stony silence, but we eventually warmed up to each other and by the end were getting on like a house on fire. My eyebrows are no longer bushy but more like a topiarian dream. I’ll be back in 4.
