Halfords

Picture the scene: A girl who knows literally nothing about cars has recently got her first car, and is about to embark on a 250 mile trip to drive home for Christmas.
With all of the above in place, I was a bit nervous about going to Halfords and asking for a Winter car check. What if they asked me something I didn’t know? What if I had to reverse park in a tiny space? What if they tried to sell me things I don’t need and I don’t know any better?!
I arrived, and within a few minutes a lovely, chatty mechanic called Ryan was going to check my car. All I needed to be able to do was open the bonnet and put the lights on.
I was so put at ease, he chatted away as he worked, and gave my car a top up of screen wash for free and then sent me away with a clean bill of health.
I would definitely be happy to go back to Halfords and ask them any questions now without worrying about all the things above.

This Halfords is located at Hermiston Gates shopping complex. I usually go there when I have a minor car issue or if I need some car lights replaced. So far the staff has been very helpful and efficient. Last time I went I had to wait for 20min until it was my turn. Fortunately there is a TK Maxx just beside this Halfords and I manged to get a shop done as well. As soon I got back to Halfords I got seen to by a staff member who replaced my bulb without any problems. There is a small fee to pay, but it’s worth it. I would not know how to change a bulp. Think the fee was £5.

After looking at many 2^nd hand stores I decided to get my bike here. The employee at the store advised me to order online, and I found an extra coupon so I got a great deal. You order online and pick it up and pay at the store, convenient! The price ended up being nearly the same as the 2^nd hand bicycles I found. The big advantage is that I took the 3 years plan for only £40, which includes free labour. So even if I buy parts somewhere else they will install it for free! Great deal. Also includes 3 times the yearly maintenance, something that the 2^nd hand stores charged a lot for.
I like to support the small businesses, but in this case this was just too good of a deal to let go, AND near to my work (Hermiston Gait)
The main guy seems a bit stressed at times but all other employees have been extremely nice.

Have been shopping at this store for many years and have always been happy with the service but have only noticed it getting even better in the past year possibly as we have had a new granddaughter and were shopping for stuff relating to her. in march went to buy new sat nav for my son the assistant was just lovely and didn’t treat me as stupid as I didn’t understand any if it and then back in April for another one for my husband as he liked my sons so much. Really lovely staff again at that visit and discounted the cost if the carry case etc which was great, today went in for the next stage car seat for our granddaughter which was advertised at £220 but they price matched it to John Lewis at £175 no problem. The young man took the demo seat out to our car showed me all about it made sure it fitted and was secure then when we were happy we bought the seat and he fitted it perfectly ready to go she drove home In the new seat happy. It’s lovely to have this excellent level of service from this store told me to come back anytime for a check up to make sure the seat was still ok and fitted to standard. A big AAA++ to them today

This is a standard Halfords but with worse signage.
My visit was marred, not by the staff or store, but by another customer kicking off because the staff wouldn’t give him a discount on a bottle of motor oil. Not sure why he thought he was entitled to a discount, but it did mean I and three other people had to wait 15min to pay for our purchases.
