Got a groupon voucher for this hairdressers and wish I hadn’t bothered! The whole experience was terrible from start to finish (including the shabbiness of the place and having to listen to the owner’s swearing). I’ve never left a hairdresser’s feeling like my hair wasn’t done and I definitely didn’t have the WOW factor! My colour looked ok from the top, but when I went through it afterwards, I found large sections that hadn’t been touched. I got a 2^nd opinion from 2 hairdressers round the corner from Lindey Gillies and was told that the hairdresser has sliced in and hasn’t used enough colour all through. One said that they definitely are not selling the company well through Groupon and have done it as cheap as they can.
I have tried for weeks and Lindsey Gillies have refused to fix my hair so I want to let everyone know that you would be making a HUGE mistake going here what a waste of money! Infact, they even charge you extra for any more than 2 colours and if you want your hair straightened. Keep away!

I had my hair cut here a while ago and it was incredibly disappointing. I got a voucher through Groupon thinking that as it was in the upmarket New Town area it would be a nice salon. Unfortunately, things started to go wrong as soon as I phoned to book my appointment. The woman I spoke to on the phone was incredibly rude and unhelpful, treating me as a second class citizen even before she knew I had a voucher (not that that would be any excuse). When I eventually walked through the door my hair had reached crisis point and I couldn’t wait to get it cut.
The girl that cut my hair sat me down and asked me what I wanted to do at which point I launched into the usual string of several ideas and asked her what she thought. At this stage, I’m used to the hairdresser responding with their own suggestions based on my hair type and face shape. However, the girl just stared back at me in the mirror, shrugged her shoulders and said, ‘So what do you want?’ Hmmm. She then went off to get my cape at which point I seriously debated whether I had the nerve to just walk out. If my hair hadn’t been such a frizz bomb and in need of urgent attention I probably would have.
We then went over to the sinks of which there were 2 or 3 but someone was using what was obviously the ‘preferred’ sink so the hairdresser turned to me and told me I’d just have to wait. So I stood, and waited. I felt like I was in a budget barber shop rather than a New Town salon! Adding to my discomfort was that the staff area was poorly concealed near to the sinks and I could see dirty dishes piled up and coats and bags scattered everywhere.
I finally had my hair washed and cut, and to be fair that was fine. Although I just asked her to trim all the ends as I’d lost my nerve for anything more dramatic.
In addition to the poor service I received, the salon was dirty and there were boxes full of new stock just lying in the middle of the floor. The final insult was that I wasn’t offered a glass of wine, tea or coffee — which I think is now standard practice in a nice salon.
I definitely wouldn’t go back here, and I certainly wouldn’t have paid the full price of a cut there which was around £50. Head to Charlie Miller round the corner on Stafford Street!

First time I’ve been to a hair salon in about 10 years and only went here because I had a Group-​on voucher, however, what a lovely place. Considering where the salon is, they weren’t at all up themselves. Very friendly and not at all patronising. The girl who cut my hair, Nici, was lovely and really listened to what I wanted from my hair AND gave me it! I came away with a really nice haircut, lots of advice on how to manage my hair and no pressure to make another appointment. I have every intention of going back again even without the incentive of a Group-​on voucher.
