I hate to only give them two stars as the two people that served us seemed lovely, however, lovely people aren’t always successful at deep-frying things. I think I just take it for granted that you can actually mess up a sausage dinner and a steak pie dinner. It does actually happen! My boyfriend and I decided we would give this place a shot as some fliers had come through our door recently and we thought we would branch out from going to Leith Walk Kebabs all the time. I decided to have the home-made steak pie supper for £4 and he decided to have a sausage supper for the same price. I was quickly informed that they had run out of the home-made steak pie but that they had a few Pukka brand pies left that I could have instead with the assurance that they were every bit as good! I took the man for his word and ordered it. In hind-sight, that was a very good decision as the Pukka steak pie was by far the best part of both suppers. Unfortunately, a great little steak pie manufactured by someone else isn’t enough to keep my patronage at a chippy. The chips were WAY undercooked and tasted as if they had been fried for about 5 minutes at lunch time(this was approximately 6pm when we were there) and had been hanging out under a heat lamp ever since. The battered sausages were so soggy and greasy it just wasn’t even worth the deep-fried guilty pleasure of having a chippy supper! I won’t be hurrying back to Seven Seas unless I hear from others that they have VASTLY improved their deep-frying abilities and more importantly, that their chips taste fresh!
