I was amazed to have been seated at the recessed window table in front overlooking Exeter Cathedral. Perhaps I wasn’t amazed by the meal but I was certainly impressed. The favors were well thought out and I enjoyed everything I ate. I’m sure that if I had more opportunity to dine here, I could be amazed. The service was without flaw.

Michael Caines was actually dining here at the same time we were, just one table away from us. One of the servers asked us if we wanted to have our picture taken with him but we declined, didn’t want to disturb his meal. There is absolutely no going wrong with anything on the menu. This was truly a perfect dining experience from the service to the food. Well worth the cost.

Not enchanting at all. Tables cramped. Noisey inside. Staff pretentious. Food ok. Not anyway close to gidleigh park. We won’t go back until Michael sorts this place out. Very disappointing.

The Abode Exeter, better known as The Royal Clarence Hotel is a listed building in Exeter city centre. It boasts a luxury stay, with its elegant décor and premium eating at the Michael Caines. The atmosphere is ‘posh traditional’ We stayed in one of their Fabulous rooms which had a contemporary décor and a stunning bathroom. The staff were friendly and helpful too. On the expensive side, but a great room for special occasions ;).
