It does make me smile when I walk past Double Dot Burger; the logo is really cute and animated and there’s little fairly lights in the window. Sweet! It’s definitely intriguing and inviting, and it striked me as a fun place to eat. And that’s just why I had to pop into Giffnock’s new burger bar! It’s small and cosey; a lovely little family run establishment where the welcome was warm and genuine. Seriously, Double Dot’s staff are just as sweet as you’d expect from the bouncy pink motif on the restaurant front. It was refreshing to have someone willing to talk us through the menu and answer any questions we had. Also, staff are willing to cater to specific dietary requirements if you let them know in advance. Lovely! I went for a classic: the beef burger with cheese. It came out nicely presented in the cutest star print paper. Nice touch! The burger came in a large seeded bun. It was flavoursome, but I would have just loved a smaller brioche bun. — I do like a messy, dripping, juicy burger and Double Dot Burger was a tad tame in this respect. But a lovely burger nonetheless! For me, it was the cajun fries with the tangy double dot sauce which stole the show. The fries were crisp and nicely seasoned, and the sauce complimented them perfectly. Dreamy, creamy deliciousness with just the right amount of heat. I’d like an endless supply for all my chip dippin’ needs! There’s definitely a buzz in Double Dot burger; the staff are just so passionate and friendly and it’s clear they’re working hard at establishing the business. I hope they do well, and I’m looking forward to popping back to see how things go. The milkshakes sure do sound scrumptious!

Another new burger place in Glasgow? At least this one is in Giffnock I guess, where there’s only two other places I can think of that do burgers, Tribeca and the OP(let me know if there’s anywhere I’ve forgotten). To me, it seemed like Double Dot appeared overnight where Wee Cucina used to be. They’ve been open a couple of weeks and Nicola C decided to give it a try. I wasn’t initially won over by the menu(it needs looking over for formatting and a tidying up of excessive apostrophes, but then that’s me being pedantic) but I like that they’ve kept it simple — four burgers(beef, lamb, chicken and a veggie option), ribs and then chips/coleslaw as sides. They also do interesting sounding milkshakes like«brownie madness» and one with Oreo cookies. Inside it hasn’t changed a whole lot from Wee Cucina and there is even some Italian artwork on the walls which perhaps could be updated — but they’re so new I won’t hold it against them. There’s nice booths which I’d recommend grabbing if you can as they are super comfortable and cosy. I ordered the Big Bird burger(£7) and added cheese, as well as a side of cajun fries and double dot dip. I’ms still not sure what the double dot dip was but it sure did have a fiery kick to it. I thought the portion of fries was a little on the small size for the price(£3 inc seasoning) but they were well cooked and tasty. The burger comes wrapped in greaseproof paper with blue and red stars which is a cute touch and I was impressed when I unwrapped it as it all looked super fresh and tasty. I was really happy with the burger as the chicken was super succulent and delicious, and the smoked cheese was a lovely addition. The burger bun didn’t quite hold up under all that juiciness so about ¾ of the way through I gave up and used my knife and fork to finish off the rest. I had a couple of soft drinks while we were there, so the bill came to £23 — two burgers, two chips, a shared dip, two soft drinks. I thought that was pretty reasonable. One other thing I have to mention is just how lovely the staff were — they were super warm and welcoming, and made sure we were happy with everything. Towards the end of the meal we had a chat with the guy there who said that if we needed dietary requirements accommodated(like gluten free or lactose intolerant) just let them know in advance and they will buy in lactose free milk so you can have a milkshake — how nice is that?!

Just back from a wondeful dinner at this new restaurant. Small and cozy place with a nice layout and elegant décor. Service was impeccable as was the food. For once no complaints from my group of 5 who dine out together weekly and are a perfectionist type bunch. The beef burgers were of a high quality dry aged beef, as a burger should be in a good bun with cheese and sauteed onions to shoot. I had ‘The Nutter’ milkshake which was nutella based and extremely yummy and not as sweet as I had feared. The fries were hand cut and tasted great, not the frozen nonsense normally served in many such establishments. We also ordered a portion of ribs which were very well cooked and the meat was literally falling of the bone, this came with a spicy sauce which was so amazing I had to order an extra portion of the sauce. For desserts being completely stuffed I shared with my fellow diners, I ended up trying the waffles and ice cream as well as the red velvet cake, both were very nice and made on the premises as opposed to the bought in rubbish offered up in places. My friends also had the coffee which is a unique roast created by the in house barista. All in all would definitely go back and very strongly recommended for anyone considering giving the place a try. Bön appetit.
