Pastrami special, get in my belly. Grabbed a wee takeaway sandwich and a coffee here before getting the train through to Edinburgh. was initially overwhelmed by choice — everything looked so tasty! Guy behind the counter provided me with some advice, and i went for the Pastrami Special(which is best on ciabatta bread, apparently) and an americano. First sip of the coffee = yummy! Strong, smooth, all round goodness. Perfect accompaniment to the sandwich, which i opened on the train — soft pastrami, with sweet gherkin, creamy cheese and a crunchy slaw foiled in crisp bread. The slaw wasn’t too coated in mayo, reducing the«soggy sandwich» risk. a pretty great sandwich alternative to Greggs and the like. and not too expensive either — i’ll be back!

I must admit to only ever grabbing a coffee from this place so far, but if a sandwich list has me thinking ‘I need to go back to this place’, then it must be good. Sandwiches for me are never something I go out of my way to hunt out. I think maybe that has more to do with the real lack of über awesome sandwich joints in town, rather than me not being a ‘wich fan. Well, it looks like I’m now on the Piece trail. It turns out that the ese guys are sandwich connoisseurs. Masters of the art of lunch time munchies, late afternoon snackies and by the looks of the Spicy Italian sausage on granary roll with cracked black pepper and mustard butter, it appears they may have a petty decent breakfast offer too.(om nom) So yeah. it’s four stars until I try something, but if the practice is as good as the theory, then 5 stars is but a sarnie away.
