I just wanted to update this — simply because of the friendly service and the outstanding value. This morning, I got a roll with square sausage and tattie scone, a latte, a roll with bacon and a cup of tea — it came to a wallet-friendly £5.80! Boom — now that’s good value!

Two rolls and sausage and a cup of tea for £1.50. Nuff said. Five stars.

I love this place, seriously love it. It has it all, value for money, friendly service and great food. The Unilocalers below have already stated, if you want a breakfast to line your belly then this is the place to go. A favourite after a night out in our flat, Coffee etc offers something that the West End lacks, a wee bit of a bargin. If you take away before 11am you get a Tea/Coffee and two hot filled rolls for around 2 quid! Unheard of unless you live on Harris or Orkney! Full fry is a must and will fill you up and leave your wallet rather plump as well coming in at around 4⁄5 pounds. Great wee gem, only 4 stars as it could do with a sprucing up. But crackin none the less!

While the North Star is the Zinedine Zidane of this stretch of Queen Margaret Drive — exotic, adventurous and lauded — Coffee Etc can be seen as the Didier Deschamps, less spectacular but no less essential. There’s no getting away from it, as my fellow Unilocalers have stated, Scots love nothing more than a bit of stodge and while a roast Mediterranean vegetable salad is very nice most of the time, I’m afraid it’s just not going to cut it when you’re sporting the hangover from hell. What’s more, this is stodge done well. Perfectly cooked and not too greasy, the food is wholly satisfying and more than appropriate to eat for breakfast, lunch or dinner any day of the week, hangover or not. Indeed, it even offers a BYOB service if you want to create your own for the following day. With the North Star often bursting at the seams, Coffee Etc has been charming its stragglers for years to the extent it has now established a loyal fan base of its own. Like all the best duos, the two complement each together culminating in one of the best stretches of the West End for a quick bite to eat.

Ok so it doesn’t have the boho appeal of North star or the cutesy, kitsch feel of mannequin’s but the one thing Coffee etc does have going for it is the innate Scottish desire for stodge, particularly to help line the old belly after a night of one too many. Located on the ever impressing gallery of shops on Queen Margaret Drive, Coffee etc offers café food at café prices without the pomp and ceremony of its contemporaries on Byers Road. You can also take advantage of the takeaway service if you fancy stodge on the march, personally i find this an affront to my ethical and moral stand point. Maybe it has something to do with my upbringing, i was raised to believe that stodge should be enjoyed in the way that god intended, sitting down and that if, god forbid, you should need to move, then said transport should be undertaken via a petrol driven vehicle. Right then, Coffee etc, good grub, good service, good to go

Sometimes you just want a really good, simple fry-up with a giant glass of orange juice and a good cuppa. It’s one of the best hangover cures and certainly a good way to start the day. Coffee Etc offers this on a plate(quite literally I know, pun not intended). No-fuss drinks and food are served at very reasonable prices. Located on Queen Margaret Drive, this little gem is particularly popular in the mornings. The café is small so you’re not always guaranteed a seat in their litte booths however they also cater for take-aways. Coffee etc offers a great alternative to the shiny, often over-priced alternatives on Byres Rd. The staff are friendly, the service is quick, and the food is yummy.
