Deoch an Dorus is a great Saturday spot for anyone in to watch the weekend sport. Has numerous TV screens dotted about the place and(I think) can show up to 3 different channels at once, ideal on a Saturday. The bar itself is nicely spaced, with quite a lot of seating. Bar is an island bar in the middle, which has a great selection of malts on offer. Beer selection is good too, usually have 7 or 8 different beers on offer which is good. Food is standard pub grub stuff, pretty tasty and very good value for money. The service too is always great, very quick to serve and well staffed bar.

We visited here a few weeks back as part of the Unilocal Glasgow Subcrawl. I had actually meant to visit many times before but never seemed to have got round to it. For me it’s always gonna be the bar with the name I struggle to pronounce. The day we went it was HEAVING with people out to watch the Scotland versus Ireland football match and I’m afraid for that reason my impression of it was not that great. It was hot and hard to get to the bar for the crowds, although once you got there they actually had some decent beers on offer. I ended up with a pint of joker. Decent old man style pub, but seems to be aiming for something a bit better than that. Would not mind going for a pint, but would not rush to go back. 3 stars.

This place is nice. Popular though. Service was pretty quick and he didn’t mind when I gave him a list rather than speaking. Partick is great.

I love this place. It has a wide selection of ales and lagers, and a lot of whisky and whiskey(with the e) to choose from. It’s full of TV screens showing live sport and other things, and there’s more than one channel on at any given time. I wouldn’t dream of embarrassing myself by trying to pronounce the name in public though. The staff always have a smile and a cheery word, no easy feat in a place that always seems to be quite busy, and the atmosphere is your typical West End mix of students, fitba fans, racing punters, and generally just regular folk. You don’t need a shirt and tie, or shoes that cost the equivalent of a small country cottage to fit in here, folks, rest easy. It’s just a nice little place to spend the time. I often drop in just to either start off a night, or even finish it off with a wee dram before hitting the nearby Partick railway/underground station and heading home. Grab a paper, or a book, find a table, grab a drink and spend some time here. You won’t regret it.

My parents live around the corner from here and it’s always a place we like to stop in for a quick drink or a bite to eat. Any food we’ve had here has always been of good quality. It might be typical pub fare, but it’s tasty enough and always good value. For example, I think it’s Mon-Fri from 12−4pm that you can have 2 course for £4.95(choosing from 2 starters + 2 mains — correct me if I’m wrong!) which is great value for money. They don’t skimp on portion size either; I am routinely defeated by their mains! Overall, it might be a chain pub in Partick but I like it, can be busy on days when the football is on but there’s always a good atmosphere and the staff are lovely too.
