Well, we fancied a curry and it was the 23rd of December. Thinking that absolutely everywhere would be fully booked with Christmas parties we turned to 5pm to try to find somewhere with tables. Luckily enough, Kama Sutra presented itself as an obvious option. Its one of those restaurants I’ve walked past hundreds of times and that I’ve never been in, so it was about time to give it a try. The interior is warmly decorated and a nice, appealing space to sit in. The staff were attentive without being pushy and we were soon getting comfy with a bottle of wine and our menus. I ordered the haggis pakora(I’m always amused to see that on a menu and it can be really great) while Paul M went for the chicken pakora. We ordered pilau rice, a Peshwari naan, a Himalayan Hot Pot and a Chicken Murgh Jaipuri. The pakora was fine, but nothing amazing. I think the hot pot was probably the highlight of the meal and it’s always nice to see things like that on a menu — things I’ve not tried before. That’s probably my favourite thing about Kama Sutra — there’s this big section of the menu dedicated to regional dishes and there were a lot I’d never heard of and that I’d be curious to try. Unfortunately though, the food itself, while nice, doesn’t really elevate the restaurant above its competition.

Seated quickly without a booking. Staff were attentive but we didn’t feel overwhelmed or pressured. We opted for the two course meal, good value £12. Our food was served quickly and didn’t disappoint. Staff were lovely and obliging. The atmosphere was great, we loved the décor. An all round good experience and we will be back.

Went here with 25 other people(celebrating a 40th) the staff were so attentive, helpful and friendly. Food was gorgeous, no mistakes with the orders and reasonably price. Even had fish/steak and chips for non curries eaters and the steak looked like perfection(and was told it was tasty). I’ll be going back to sample the rest of the menu.

I first came here out of the blue about a month ago with my boyfriend, as the Nando’s we planned to have had a waiting time of an hour. Now, Nando’s is tasty, but nothing beats having a curry when you weren’t expecting to have one. We popped in here and were greeted by friendly, welcoming staff who happily showed us to our table. The tables for two do seem to be quite small in this restaurant, which is a shame because when you have Indian food there tends to be a lot of it! We ordered chicken pakora(for the boy) and vegetable pakora(for me), which were cooked to perfection. We also got a plateful of poppadums(poppadoms? For someone obsessed with spelling, I really ought to know this!), complete with mango chutney and spicy onions. I’ve never seen two people demolish something so quickly! Mains were incredibly tasty; I got a mixed veg curry with boiled rice and you really got value for money. I could barely manage to finish, but I was determined not to waste anything so tasty, and I did it. Hooray! My boyfriend got a spicy chicken curry(I can’t remember the sauce!) which he said was delicious. We ate in silence, happy to focus on our task of finishing everything in sight! I thoroughly recommend the garlic naan — so tasty and fresh we got two(we’re gutsy buggers, you may be able to tell); the garlic was still melting when they brought them over. Fresh and fluffy, the way naan bread should be. Two starters, two mains, two naans, two portions of rice, a glass of prosecco, three large soft drinks and a malt whisky cost us £60 all in, and we definitely felt we got value for money. The food was delicious and fresh and the staff were incredibly friendly without being over-bearing; I was recently in another Indian restaurant where five different people came over during our mains to ask if everything was alright and one of the staff silently slid up beside me, grabbed my napkin off my plate and put it across my knee! Now, people being helpful is a good thing for sure, but I felt uncomfortable with such a level of attention. My mum used to put my napkins across my knee when I was five, after all. Thankfully, Kama Sutra allow you to place your napkin where you wish, so kudos to them for that! Oh, and you can also have a giggle at the art on the wall. Sex, innit.

Good food and great theme although a caution for Especially for Asian families who aren’t comfortable with bold images as the name is of the restaurant explains it itself. Otherwise good food.

On a recent work trip to Glasgow I sought out an Indian restaurant for dinner one night & stumbled across Karma Sutra. The ambience is quite trendy for an Indian restaurant, & the staff were very accommodating and friendly. In terms of the food, I had the fish lahori which was ok, a little over spiced perhaps as the actual taste of fish was lost. For main I tried the Lamb Jalandrhi which was packed with flavour, although the I’ve had better lamb curries, namely at the Curry Lounge in Nottingham(well worth a visit if you are ever over there). All in all a tasty meal, at a fairly reasonable price.

Popped in here for the £7.95 Buffet Lunch. This place used to be great but does seem to have gone a little downhill since I was last here. Choice of starters is nothing like it used to be. The main dishes were tasty but in very short supply. The dishes weren’t topped up so spent most of the time scraping from the bottom of the serving basins. Would have given it 2 stars but on the upside, the staff were really nice. The third star is awarded to the lamb bhuna, always a must, even though scraped from the bottom of yet another empty tin.

I’m in Scotland fairly often and I always spend a night or two in Glasgow. I sometimes stay at the Argyll Hotel, which is close-by. I began eating here in the early 90s, though I don’t remember if the name has changed since then. The food has been consistantly good all these years and I like the warm, inviting décor. The staff are plentiful, efficient, and friendly, without being smothering. This is one of my favorite Indians in central Glasgow. The menu is fairly extensive and believe me, over the 18 years I’ve eaten here, I’ve tried the whole menu and never disliked anything yet. The one thing I have disliked over the past couple of years is the spiraling prices. This used to be great food at a damned reasonable price. Now its gotten so dear that it’s only the«great food» part. I think if they don’t get the prices under control, next time I’ll walk a couple of doors down to the Rawalpindi and try it. However, the food here is very good and having a Chicken Tikka Masala addiction, I can tell you the version here is top notch! I’d like to give it 4 stars, but the prices just won’t let me go more than 3.

If you’re up in this neighborhood, it’s good, not great, but good. Personally, I thought Spice Garden was better. Here’s what I think, you pay for the décor as the food is good, but not great. And the prices? A little steep, although the service was excellent.

Bog standard Indian restaurant, not great, not terrible, not cheap, not extortionate. There are better Indians in Glasgow.

The Kama Sutra is a relaxed Indian eatery with some fairly raunchy wall art sprinkled around the place. The food is brilliant — I’ve eaten there half a dozen times this year and every meal has been top notch. As mentioned by Darryl R, the haggis pakora is excellent and a nice twist to kick off a meal with. Although the starter portion size isn’t anything to write home about, the main course portions are a good size and the naan breads are large enough to share. Service is generally good — there are plenty of waiters hovering around who will encourage you to order drinks-a-plenty, with the result being a weighty bill at the end of the meal. One starter, two mains with rice, one naan bread, a Cobra and three G&T’s came to over £60 when I visited in mid-December 09. I didn’t look to see if the prices had been hiked for the festive period, but that’s pricey in my book. In summary, the Kama Sutra is a quality restaurant with delicious food — just a little bit on the pricey side compared to the competition.

Part of the Glasgow Harlequin chain, you won’t be disappointed by the food or the service in Kama Sutra(oo-er!!!). The restaurant itself is quite chic and stylish, but not coldly so — it’s quite comfortable and the lighting creates an intimate dining feeling… raunchy! The food is tasty — it has your usual Indian style classics, like pakora(try the Haggis pakora!!!), tandoori foodstuffs, and all your usual curry favourites along with some unusual local delights(my friend had the Goan Fish curry and said it was amaaaazing). All in all, an ‘intimate’, tasteful restaurant. Only problem? It’s pricey pricey pricey.

I’d advise going here for a set lunch as at night time, the prices are quite steep. We started off a night out here(yes, we start early) with some stomach-lining and probably-unwise Indian food. The atmosphere is relaxed but stylish and the waiters are very attentive to all your needs. We got tandoori aloo and veg pakora to start and a chasni and a bhindi for our mains. Everything was cooked faultlessly, although the portion sizes were a bit too big for me. I ended up leaving quite a bit just because I was so full. A great restaurant, but just be aware of the prices!

Kama Sutra looks great and the food is excellent. However it’s more expensive than most Indian restaurants in Glasgow. The staff are nice and the manager(I think it was the manager or owner) made his way around the tables chatting to everyone to make sure we were all liking the food. He didn’t stay too long, but it was a nice touch.

It’s façade is very impressive and you might expect to need to dress to impress to enter. Not to mention the name that conjures up all sorts of images of how this could fit with a restaurant. However it is in fact very friendly and welcoming place inside, with conventional eating arrangements! The sultry surroundings and sensational food make this restaurant one of the best in Glasgow. Owned by the same company as the Ashoka chain it was never going to disappoint!
