Pizza Express

This Pizza Express is a new branch and therefore the décor is lovely. One side of the restaurant is floor to ceiling glass, so sit there if you’d like to people watch.
The food here is the same decent quality stuff that you expect from the chain. I recently had three courses here and the vast majority of it was great, so I shall only highlight the minor negatives.
We ordered the sharing platter of dough balls which upon arrival were too hot. They come with little bowls of dip because they’re meant I be finger food but hold these little nuggets of lava for more than a second and you’ll hurt your fingers.
More importantly, one of the toppings (bacon) of my pizza was accidentally excluded. I didn’t notice at first, but about five minutes into the main course a waitress hurried over and tipped bacon onto my pizza as she very nicely apologised for the error.
These two points really are minor and I had to struggle to think of anything to criticise. The food was lovely and my company had no complaints either.
The service was impeccable. Our waitress for the evening was lovely. Very fast at fulfilling requests, equally attentive and just the right level of chatty. She received about a 20% tip in the end because we felt she deserved it.
A bottle of Merlot, a shared platter of dough balls, two pizzas and two desserts came to just under £60. Great value in my opinion.

Avoid table by the door on a windy day otherwise the wind will blow the window blind across your table and anything not held down off the table. This restaurant needs a porch.
Badly supervised. Supervisor was hiding but did pop-​out to ask how our food tasted before we received our first course. Second waitress asked for our order twice after we had just given our order. Kid’s Meal Desserts were not served until we asked for them. One advertised ingredient for the calzone was not available nor was apple juice for the kids.
After a few months we may visit again to see if this PizzaExpress is up to the standard we have come to expect from other PizzaExpresses. Perhaps it was the post-​Christmas holidays that broke our lunch service.
Three stars for the pizzas only.
