Chicken. Mmmmm chicken. Crafty Chooks’ chicken is the best. Yes, better than RFC. I only know this because I stole chicken from my girlfriend’s plate. I actually had beef. A beef roast on a Sunday. In fact, I’ve had this twice now. I do not know how they make the vegetables both crunchy and soft at the same time. It’s voodoo. Foodoo. The only way I think they could improve is by giving me thicker gravy and slightly less crispy Yorkshire puddings. Maybe two Yorkshire puddings. I am greedy. Also, the person who took my reservation over the phone was very hard work. They were having a conversation with someone else whilst taking my reservation. Predictably, this person actually messed up my reservation and booked a table for two, rather than for three as I had requested. Fortunately, the staff on the day done some shuffling around and fit us all in. Food — good. Service — good. Reservation — bad. I’ll go back, but I will probably ask them to repeat the reservation back to me next time.

I went to Crafty Chooks today after trying(and failing) to go to several places in the area to go for a Sunday roast for my boyfriend’s birthday. I’ve been meaning to go here for a while, so was glad of the opportunity, and really glad we went in! It was busy,(as was everywhere else in Hove today for some reason) but the staff managed to fit four of us in which we greatly appreciated. I opted for the beef roast, my partner went for the chicken, which was probably a good idea seeing as they specialise in Chicken! I have to say, when the food came out it looked absolutely delightful. I was a teeny bit jealous of my boyfriends roast as he seemed to have a mountain of chicken on his plate, however, I got a great portion of beef and it was cooked to perfection. I like to drown my roast in gravy, so I asked for extra gravy on the side, which the staff were happy to provide for me. I think it was quite possibly the nicest gravy I have ever tasted — to be honest it was probably one of the best roasts I’ve eaten out in Brighton and Hove, and I would recommend it to anyone. Looking forward to going there again to try some of the chicken!

If you are one of the many Nandos fans in town, you will love this place. I found it by accident and love it. The chicken is cooked on a rotisserie behind the bar, smells amazing and tastes even better. If you ask for half a chicken, you actually get a whole chicken chopped in half. There’s a huge variety of sides, all decent in size and great quality. The winner are their own home made sauces to smother your chicken in. They have a great section of craft beer too.
