Always get the tagliatelle pollo a pesto from the takeaway but the restaurant is great too. Didn’t have the best experience last time with soggy pizza and a bit of a grim pasta sauce, but everyone has their off days. Definitely recommend the creamed spinach though!

Dreadful for parking, but once you’re there its pretty near brilliant. Good food, very helpful & Friendly staff (ask for Les, have seen him in many restaurants and he is one of Hull’s best). They do a great Italian draught beer — Moriati as well as some superb wines. A real bistro style Italian eaterie but with excellent tamla Motown Music. One of my favourites.

Da Gianni profits from a superb location and attractive traditional décor. Beyond that nothing seems to be quite right.
The pizza is alright, smallish, but the tomato sauce is pretty bland. While waiting for my pizza I watched a cream pasta sauce being boiled furiously over high heat, so I would avoid the pasta — I can incinerate single cream for myself at home if I want.
The food is priced in line with the image projected, not the product. Service was average, slow, and an order of about 5 items needed repeating several times (and checking before it was accepted).
There are plenty of better options in Hull, no need to pay extra for hype.

Great Italian food, realistic prices, good service

Da Gianni resteraunt and take away is by far the best italian resteraunt in hull. you can see the food being cooked from fine fresh ingredients from your table or as you wait for your food in the take away. Best pizza i have tasted since i returned from italy!

da gianni is an italian eaterie amongst all the bars and cafes on princes avenue. the food is nice but not outstanding. its fairly small but doesnt seem quite as cosy as it could. usual prices but you’d expect something a bit nicer for the price really.
