Frozen Mop

If you’ve been to the Merlin in Alderley Edge then you’ve been to the Frozen Mop essentially. Owned by the same company so the décor is the same, shiny copper table tops and period features.
The pub is long and thin with a beautifully lit restaurant at one end. The toilets are definitely haunted but that’s ok because they never really give you any trouble (the ghosts).
They always have really nice crisps and lots of different types of bottled beers. The frites and mayonnaise are really delicious and there is an outdoor area with loads of wooden seats set in the lovely countryside. And there’s a gate with a sign in the car park saying the horse behind the gate may bite but I have never seen the horse.
Only thing is the little tables you sit at on stools, the table tops are really high so you can’t play card games on them that well.

Some may describe it as a «pub» but I’d be more-​tempted to say «gastropub».
When you walk in you’ll see that the place is divided into two fairly-​distinct parts: an area full of plush sofas etc. on the right to have a drink and the bright, airy restaurant area to the left.
The two-​course Sunday lunch for £12 is worth a look but if beef, yorkshire pud and all that kinda thing ain’t your bag, there’s still plenty to choose from, all for a reasonable price.
And it serves Timothy Taylor’s Landlord bitter!
Worth the 30-​minute car journey from Manchester.

Lovely country pub which serves fantastic food and an excellent Sunday Roast! Been here several times and always had something different, excellent choice on menu. Lovely beer garden for those relaxing summer afternoons.

The Frozen Mop is a great pub in the village of Mobberley, just outside Knutsford. Recently it has been refurbished and changed hands, and a really grotty pub has become top notch. Average price, a small very well selected menu, lovely surroundings and a good choice or beers, ciders and wine. Nice helpful staff and a beer garden. a winner.
