What can I say about The Acorn? Well, not much more than’it’s alright’. The best thing about the place is the cheap drinks and the real ale is very well kept, with plenty of guest ales to choose from. The food? Not that good reheated frozen stuff. 10% of it gets sent back because it’s badly cooked or they got the order wrong oh, and you have to wait at least half an hour for your food most of the time because they never seem to have enough staff on, so the service is poor. The staff? Well, it all went downhill when the former manageress went on maternity leave. The staff all become demoralised when a stand in manager came in and put up their backs up(from what I understand). The staff who originally were friendly and acknowledged you when you walked in, became unfriendly and ignored you. In fact, most of them now seem to have left! In fact, we rarely go there at all now and we used to visit(as a family) two or three times a week. We pay more for our beer and food elsewhere and have a better experience. To sum it up, okay for a cheap drink, nice beer selection, but miserable staff and I don’t care much for the toilets. UPDATE: Since writing this review over two years ago, I would like to say that the attitude of staff at The Acorn is much improved. They seem to be better motivated and happier since the return of the manager from maternity leave and the toilets have had a refurb.

Yes the Acorn is a ‘Spoons and I was in yesterday. Watched The Grand National whilst enjoying a South African IPA(after vsiting the Guildhall’s beer festival). Can’t say much else — it’s a ‘Spoons; real ale and value meals.

Just a note pointing out that animal12’s review has clearly mistaken The Acorn for the Pig and Truffle next door. By way of brief comment, The Acorn is a Wetherspoons, so you pretty much know what you’re getting. Cheap beer. Cheap food. A reasonable atmosphere for an early doors drink before moving on to somewhere else later.

The acorn has changed its name to the Pig. It is a really nice pub in Lichfield Town Centre. They have an open fire and a couple of leather setees in the corner. They serve food which is great when they have stock in so sometimes is a bit hit and miss. The menu is quite flat with little choice for vegetarians but the atmosphere is great and there is a good selection of beers and spirits available. The toilets need some work to be updated and a good clean. This can get packed at the weekends and there is a smoking area out of the back. This does not have its car park.
