We were 4 people. One of us ordered tom yum soup as an appetizer. Then between us we ordered the tamarind duck, red chicken curry, panang beef, and a veg dish. The duck was ordered without coriander and I don’t think the taste of the dish was compromised at all. It was crispy and very tasty. The beef and chicken dishes were also very tasty. I didn’t try the veg dish, but it looked very nice and was enjoyed by all. The tom yum soup was lovely, tho we all found it a little salty. It was a small bowl as an appetizer but had a generous amount of shrimp. All in all, a very nice restaurant, good food, good service. I would definitely revisit.

We had heard brilliant things about Amaranth over the years and it was packed so clearly they are or were doing something right. My vegetable dim sum was very average but my laksa was good, my husband’s seafood ramen was disappointing and we ended up just sharing mine. The staff were efficient and attentive but food wise it did not live up to its reputation.

This place used to be a lot better. I used to take all my friends here and now, I’m not so sure if I will. There’s a fake wall on the side, which makes it smaller — I don’t know if they’re planning to expand into next door? They’ve blacked out about about 10 things on the menu I used to like and blacked out some prices and written new ones in pen which isn’t all too professional! The food is still good, but the entire place used to be a lot better and friendlier, so I’m not sure what’s going on?

Delicious Thai food, friendly staff. A very popular place in Earlsfield, so better to book in advance. If you can, request to be seated on the ground level as the room in the basement is very noisy and claustrophobic. The Pad Thai and Laska soup are delicious, and so is the vegetarian tempura starter to share. Very good to take-away as well, although they used to give free prawn crackers and they make you pay an extra now

I have to say this is the most visited restaurant in Earlsfield. It’s not so big, and I would recommend booking a table in advance. The quality of the food is excellent and all dishes are always prepared with fresh ingredients. This place is very popular and the people really like to come here.

Last summer I got chatting to a fellow attendee at a ‘Burger Monday’ event, who told me that she’d recently moved to Earlsfield and had been surprised to find she was spoilt for choice in regards to quality and diverse dining options. In particular, she raved about a local thai restaurant that looked unassuming from outside, but that enjoyed cult status amongst the locals. After almost a year I finally made it over to that part of town for a party at a pub just doors away from this all to easy to miss little gem. I booked ahead to make sure I could finally try this place. For starters, my companion and I shared a plate of soft shell crab tempura and a generous serving of papaya salad. Both were delicious. The soft shell crab was plump, tender and perfectly fried. The papaya salad was the spiciest I have ever had, but without said spice overwhelming the many other sharp and sweet ‘lip smacking’ flavours that have made me such a fan of thai salads. For our mains we shared a Tamarind Duck Stir fry with a side of steamed rice and the Hot Drunken Noodles with Prawns. The duck was full of flavour and the prawns so meaty and soft, although I could’ve done with having a few more prawns in with the noodles. I didn’t intend to have a dessert until the menu was handed to me and I saw the list of ice creams/sorbets available. Lime & candied ginger, lychee, green matcha tea, saffron, coconut, mango — yes please! I had a scoop each of the first three listed and enjoyed every last spoonful. I only regret not having the room to also try the other three! The bill came to a reasonable £40, which seemed more than fair for the quality, portion sizes and service. Please note Amaranth does not serve alcohol but they are happy to let you bring your own, with a corking charge in effect. There is an off license right across the road so it’s not too much of an inconvenience if you plan ahead.

The food is awesome, service is superb. However, they can be quite pushy if you do not book in advance.

A real local gem, known widely in the area as the best place for Thai and reasonably priced too, especially as you can BYO for a small corkage. Really friendly staff and tasty dishes. Good vegetarian options too. Worth booking in busier times. You can order takeaway and Thai foodstuffs in the neighbouring deli next door in Amaranth Too. They have a nice cosy room downstairs that you can reserve for larger groups which has been great for a birthday and hen do among friends.

Tried the takeaway this week and it was delightful. Really fresh and zingy tasting and reasonably priced(£11 for two of us — red chicken curry, stirfry and jasmine rice to share). The kind of takeaway that feels healthy, homecooked and non sinful, this is definitely going to become a regular weekday fallback after long days at work where I’m too knackered to stand at the hob, but want nourishing. It’s also fun to browse the Thai delicatessen/shop while you wait. I bought a few sweet and noodley treats, but have yet to try any of the very cheap(£1 for a little pot) fresh curry pastes from the refrigerated cabinet at the back. There is also a mouth-watering array of their takeaway food in tubs for you to take home and freeze/reheat etc. This range is going to become a regular weekday fallback for days when I’ve worked long hours but can manage to stir something in a pan and sort of pretend I’ve kinda cooked it.

This is one of my local favorites. I have to say I visit the take away café more than I do the restaurant but the food is consistent throughout. The take away café is also an asian market/grocery store which I love for my home cooking needs. They also sell their homemade sauces so you only have to toss it in with a stirfry or curry making for a quick, healthy, tasty meal. I haven’t had anything on the menu I don’t like but I favor the duck, my husband likes the yellow curry. The only thing I would avoid is ordering the drunken noodles late in the night — they have had time to really soak up the spice and it becomes almost inedible although you may suffer through it all the same as its really good. Really friendly staff and helpful if you have a lot of questions about all the different things they sell. Love this place.

A friendly busy neighbourhood Thai restaurant with good-value staples(nothing too adventurous) and lovely staff. It’s bring your own, so a very cheap meal out.

The Amaranth Café & Noodle Bar is an unassuming little Thai noodle bar an take away, literally a minute’s walk from Earlsfield train station. The Café part of the Amaranth is essentially a take away. There’s an array of freshly cooked, express style Thai food including a selection of Thai curries and tasty starters. However, if you happen to be on your way home or are simply having a local drink and fancy a meal before, you can sit in at the noodle bar. It gets really busy so make sure you either get there early or make a reservation. What I really love about this place is the speedy service and relaxed settings. You can bring your own booze too, which is an added extra. I highly recommend the seafood Ho Fan(flat noodles). If seafood isn’t your thing though, you can order a vegetable or chicken Ho Fan as well. The portions are generous and you’re guaranteed to leave satisfied. This is still one of my favourite places to eat around Earlsfield because of the easy location, chilled but bustling atmosphere and great service.
