I came here after they were featured on a BBC how about London’s food. It is authentic Bangladeshi and there is, predictably, a large selection of fish stuff. All the food is pre-cooked which is a bit worrying for me. Especially when we went in on a Friday night at 8 and found the place deserted. A word of warning — the prawns, though they look amazing taste incredibly fish-y. The service is nice though, and we got some insight into the state of bangla politics over the course of an hour of TV watching.

Authentic Bangladesh food. The crowd is mostly locals(I mean they’re not white). The food is mostly grease with meat and rice underneath. All of it is pre-made and put out on display. Don’t select anything that’s been out too long. It’ll be overcooked and salty. The service is ok. They’re pretty quick on trying to get people out(turnover on tables is where any restaurant makes its money after all). All in all, worth a first shot to get a bite of authentic Bangladesh food, but not another.

Very good Indian/Bangladeshi food. Café style restaurant but fairly nice surrounding/décor. Very good genuine Bangladeshi dishes as well as your typical curries and Biriyani. You can choose from the already cooked dishes at the counter or order from the menu. I prefer to choose from the counter and see what takes my fancy! I’ve tried Chicen Curry, Kofte(Meat ball) Curry, Fish ball curry, Biryani, Lamb chop curry — All very good. They have some unique Bangladeshi veg dishes as well as Bangladeshi fish roe curries! These are different than your typical Indian curries and have their own unique flavours. Reasonable prices.

I went here for lunch recently with a friend who was visiting from Germany and loved it. This is an authentic Bangladeshi place, none of the tourist traps that otherwise populate Brick Lane. The style of the place is a bit cafeteria-like, it has a TV in the corner showing some Muslim station, and when we went, we were the only Westerners there. It didn’t feel awkward at all, though, rather we were warmly greeted and the service was efficient, but very friendly. There was a large variety of vegetarian dishes, and the lunch deal came at a mere 4.95 pounds for a huge curry dish served with a rice and a drink. The food itself was delicious — the food was fresh, and the spicing intensive(so don’t go here if you don’t like spicy food), yet interesting and not overpowering. The rice was cooked well, too. We came here pretty much starving and left with full stomachs and happy smiles on our faces, content with our choice. I would definitely recommend this place if are looking for a cheap lunch and fancy a good, authentic curry.
