So Café Téo is one of those rare finds on Baker Street — meaning it’s not a chain and it’s not touristy at all. I mean, at all. There is nothing fancy about this spot in the slightest, your basic, basic-cheap-food kind of diner. And if that’s what you’re looking for, you’re going to be thrilled here. But if you’re looking for anything else… eh. It’s a small spot — lunch counter up front for take away, a few tables in the back for sitting and eating. There is table service, but it’s spotty at best. Each time we needed anything, from ordering to water to paying, we had to get their attention and signal for them. But they came when we did. The food is… fine. Nothing special, nothing horrible. Soups, salads, sandwiches and the like. Also a few varieties of jacket potatoes, just in case you want a jacket potato. You want a jacket potato? You get a jacket potato. Also, the food is cheap. Really cheap. Most meals are about £3 and for £10 you can get a ton of food. Again, not great food, but a lot of it. I always feel like I never know what to say in three star reviews because it’s neither here(great) or there(terrible.) But this place is the epitome of the three star review. Neither worth going out of your way for or avoiding if you’re in a rush and need some food. It is Café Téo.

It isn’t fancy, but it gets the job done well! I’ve now visited Café Teo on 5+ occasions, and have been pleased each time. SImple, fast, efficient and tasty. What more could you want? It also checks the box for me on Baker Street: 1. not a chain and 2. not annoyingly long wait. Plus, they are always friendly and welcoming and it was within these little walls that I learned that a «jacket potato» is merely a «baked potato» and that they can be served with a variety of lovely toppings! Genius. I’m in. I’ve reveled in the toasties, the aforementioned jacket potatoes, and even an omelette! They have a nice cooler selection of cold drinks as well. Great for takeaway and they also have a small amount of seating. I’ve never had a problem finding a seat but this wouldn’t be good for a group. Cheap, and they take cards. It’s one of my go to’s for a quick lunch that fills up and doesn’t leave me regretting the day KFC, Pret and McD’s were born. ANDITISFAST. FASTFAST.

I had a jacket potato and beans from café teo earlier this week. You can’t really go wrong on an order like that. You can sit in or takeway, the staff seemed nice. I’d say that £3.80 for a bog standard jacket with beans is a little pricey, but to be fair I’m used to the east which is cheaper in general. What a dull review I’ve given, sorry about that. Good spot for a quick bite though.

This review kinda hovers between 3 – 4 Unilocal stars. It’s the type of place catering to a weekday lunch crowd, so it’s not exactly warm/charming. That said, the staff are nice, quick to help and the food was made-to-order. Speaking of which, my grub was decent but not memorable. In other words, you go here for lunch. Weekday lunch. You don’t go here for fancy meal, dinner with family, etc. But if you do happen to work nearby and need a quick meal, I’d suggest this place over any chain. Absolutely.

Wow… this is the first lunch place around Baker Street that I’m actually excited about! In fact, I’d been walking by this place several times, but it always looked a little dodgy to me; especially given that we’re in fancy-schmancy Marylebone and most places are either too posh for my liking or too chainy. Nevertheless, I saw a considerable lunch crowd inside today, which enticed me to check it out. To be honest, I do find that they have a little bit too many choices on their menu — I am a person who dislikes assembling their meal(«I’d like to have the panini with salami, cheese, tomatoes etc.) but I prefer it when things come already pre-arranged and labelled(as in for example Panini Pikante, which comes with bla bla bla). Having said this, it took me a while to assemble my lunch, but the person who took my order was very kind and repeated the choices for me numerous times. In the end I had a delicious omelet with fresh spinach, ham & cheese(see picture). They do serve omelets until 4pm, so it’s not only a breakfast thing, which is what I really appreciated, as I didn’t care for a panini or mayo-chicken sandwich. Apparently though their«Toast of the Day» are quite popular(they do have pre-arranged items after all), as I heard many people shouting these out to the folks behind the counter. As another reviewer mentioned, the Coronation Chicken seems to be quite a staple here as well, so this is what I might go for next time.

I’m not sure if I’m just getting old, I’m turning into Scrooge or all of the above. Firstly Baker Street is pants for grabbing a health lunch. In fact it’s just pants in the ‘lunchbox’ department generally. However Uli B had written good things about Téo so I was expectant and pretty excited. I went for an omelette with three fillings which didn’t sound unreasonable for £4.20, but when it came out it looked pretty small and it only came with a pathetic excuse for a side salad. Dried out cucumber and depressed lettuce is not really my thing. Word to the wise, don’t be tight and especially not on the cheap stuff. Oh and don’t add an extra 50p to the price for eating in!
