Truly great coffee and morning pastries — with excellent staff as well
Sadly, London is not a great city for coffee. But Caffe Nero is doing it’s best to change that and the Southampton Row location is no exception. Superb cappuccinos and espressos — both normal and decaf — along with very tasty croissants made us very happy every morning of our stay. Do try the apricot croissant if there are any left.

This is obviously like any branch of Nero but has two key advantages: (1) it has a large seating area which extends quite far back; (2) it is very conveniently located for picking up a coffee to take to Russell Square or Bloomsbury Square. A very useful tip if you want to avoid some of the tourist trap cafés around the British Museum, or the cafeteria in Russell Square itself (which is far from fantastic).
