Had a great night out at Cinnamon last night with 8 others — service was really good, curries were delicious and not to mention it’s BYOB! Super cheap, cost us about £15pp for a curry, naan, poppadoms and rice!(Plus most of us had a bottle of wine each) Highly recommend trying the Duck Tikka Masala, we’ll be back for sure!

I enjoyed eating at this restaurant. The«set dinner» was well done and reasonably priced . Stop in if you are in the area!

I’d probably give these guys three stars if basing the rating strictly on the food, but the experience was a lot of fun and the prices are fantastic, so they get four stars. Came in with my husband and a friend for dinner around 11 on a Friday, just as the Brick Lane«show» was starting to heat up. I liked that they were not touting aggressively like some other nearby establishments do(seriously — it gets so out of hand. I was coming out of a café by the Old Truman Brewery the other night and a guy at a different restaurant kept insisting that I go in because«good food lady. Indian food!» — even after I told him multiple times that I was waiting for an Über, he still kept thrusting a menu in my face. Come on, people). The restaurant was pretty quiet when we arrived, but quite lively by the time we were done. They allow BYOB, so we broke out our own wine. Nice way to save some £££ on a weekend dinner. Certainly some great people-watching(face tattoos, anyone?). Staff were friendly. I went for duck jalfrezi, requested extra spicy(not British spicy). It was pretty good. Meat was a little tough and it could have used some more fragrant spices, but in all, decent. The others said their dishes were pretty good as well. In general, if you just want good curry, there are much better places in London. But the whole Brick Lane experience is worth having at least once, and Cinnamon is a pretty good place to have it.

Poor service. They charged me £2.98 for tap water and further I got to know it was against the law!!!(Maybe they thought I was a foreigner so it was okay to mob me like this, but if everyone could report this to local police the evil restaurant won’t be fooling anybody else for good). The curry was poorly made and not hot at all. The price was high so I was expecting some posh service but that’s the least I was offered. Very disappointed.

Service was decent(weekday late lunch) although there were definite communication challenges. No big deal though. Chicken tikka masala was great. Not a bad first experience for brick lane.

One of the more authentic and less annoying Indian places on Brick Lane, but I only go here when I have out-of-town visitors who want to visit Brick Lane. The Kebabish Jalfrezi had a great flavour with lots of spicy heat. The lamp chop was tough and overcooked, but the sauce and small lamb cubes were good. Butter chicken was quite decent, with a very mild, creamy sauce, but would have preferred more small bite sized chicken pieces rather than 4 – 5 massive chunks of meat. The biryani left a lot to be desired; we tried a couple and they are consistently overcooked and lack flavour.

I visited cinnamon with a friend of mine and ordered lemon glass chicken and mango coconuts lamb curry and a pint of beer. Their curry is not really hot, I asked them if I could get chilli paste but unfortunately they didn’t have it. I like spicy and hot curry but it seems their curry is not really hot — it’s OK this is their style. Chicken and lamp in the curry were dry and hard, and they didn’t taste great. They offered us 20% off deal at the door but they brought bill without discount and we had to ask them to correct the bill. They said ‘everything’ but we couldn’t get discount for beer and I felt it was not really fair. We paid £18ish per person and I’d say it was a bit expensive — we could get something cheaper with better quality.

Chose this place randomly to grab some Indian-fare for the first time in the famed ‘Brick Lane’. Good food. Shame about the service. I initially came for a takeaway before deciding to eat-in. I definitely noticed that I was not being treated with the same level of(basic) service as other customers, and I let the server know too — by requesting a glass of water and a napkin(yes the basics). Even though I did request to eat-in when placing the order, stating that I had changed my mind about the takeaway, my food came boxed and ready to go. Frankly, I was happy to leave.

Friday night curry with friends should be an institution if it isn’t already! Rough week, hung over from drinks on the Thursday… curry on Friday! I have to admit I was going to rate this place a 4 star as the food was yummy and the service was great(teetering on annoying). In hindsight, it would have been better to get a table in the basement rather than right by the door during winter. Like all curry restaurants in Bricklane, they’re constantly trying to attract people to come in and the door is constantly opened. Not the greatest experience when you’re sitting by the door. What was good is that they offer 30% off if you check in on Unilocal.Go Unilocal! Chicken Korma and Pilaf is always a good choice. I only wish they weren’t so pushy with the service. They would come around to our table, ask if we want more beer(when we had ½ pint left) and as we were deciding, they would walk away. They asked us to move seats near the end of the service because they needed to accommodate a larger group. And on top of all the awkward requests which felt like they were very impatient with us, they took our money and waited over 20 mins to return the change. I enjoyed the company I was with, not so sure if I enjoyed the restaurant’s service. I think I will be trying other curry places before wanting to come back.

My friend had a 25% off deal here and it was my first time trying this restaurant. I really liked that you can bring your own drinks but the food was a bit disappointing. The rice was bland and came in the tiniest portions that cost £3 each! The chicken curry and Indian cheese curry were not bad but the duck curry was hard and dry. The garlic nan didn’t have enough garlic to it. The overall bill came to £14 with the 25% off and we didn’t even order that much. Not worth coming back here.

You can’t miss Cinnamon — it’s the one with all the Trip Advisor stickers and giant banners saying they’re tourist-friendly. It was empty when we went(albeit, it was a late lunch on a weekday). The staff is friendly, but a bit hard to understand. There were definitely communication errors(we asked for an entrée size saag and they gave us a side). Prices are decent for most things, but the sides are a bit pricey(even things like white rice). The chicken tikka masala was good. The saag aloo was good too, but nothing special.

We had a big group of around 14 so I expected the usual amount of kafuffle associated with a group that size. So I was very impressed with the professionalism and flexibility of the waiting staff who never got annoyed(or at least didn’t show it) when a few people turned up late or we had to squeeze in an extra chair here or there. They were always polite and friendly and we really enjoyed the atmosphere. They also got the order perfect which again isn’t easy with a big group and gave us a great deal for ordering in advance. BYOB made it stunningly cheap: a starter, a main, rice AND a naan for £15 each. Food was delicious and wait time wasn’t long at all(though long enough to be assured they are actually COOKING it not just microwaving something) All in all a fantastic experience and would definitely go again! Great job!

So this is Brick Lane. There’s good curry basically everywhere for a bargain. Don’t expect mind blowing curries in Brick Lane though! It’s good, but not the best in London(usually) I usually just wait until I get the best deal and eat there. Cinnamon was a great experience, though we did not get a deal, the prices were cheap so it didn’t matter. The restaurant itself has some nice décor and plenty of tables. The drinks menu is much like you’d find at any other curry house on the Lane, so it’s not amazing, but not lacking any major options. The service was pretty good, though at certain points it was a bit slow. The food is good, just like any other curry house, but what stood out to me were two things: the papadoms and the naan. They were both really good! We had Tikka Masala and another non-balti curry dish, and both were great. Visited March 2013

Confession: I’m a control freak. Usually I would be able to list out exactly what was on the menu for us tonight, but this time I let my who regulars Cinnamon decided. It’s one time, I’m glad someone else made the decisions, because everything was scrumptious(I just won’t be able to tell you what it is)! The only thing I remember was the coconut naan. When paired with the spicier curries, it had an amazing balancing effect and cooled the palette while still letting the flavours of the curry shine through. The place was quiet when we went late on Friday, so the service could have been more efficient. Despite this, I would happily recommend Cinnmamon amongst the mass of Indian restaurants along Brick Lane.

I was not impressed by the service here. We asked for advice on a dish for my partner who can’t handle anything too spicy; I ordered the vindaloo. My vindaloo came out n was very mild(I can only assume because they thought a young white woman couldn’t handle it) n my partners dish was so hot he couldn’t eat it. We ended up swapping dishes. When I explained the situation to the waiter who had suggested the dish, he laughed in my bfs face in a very rude manner. This is the same waiter who argued with us earlier that a rose n red wine were the same thing. Also I basically had to cling to my pappadum as three different staff members kept trying to take it from me before I had even touched it! The food was only average n doesn’t deserve the great reviews here. The décor was cheap n there was some very weird lighting downstairs that made an odd n unemployable atmosphere.

Great Indian cuisine on Bricklane, right in the heart of the Indian district. Pass by the other shrills, and visit this unassuming place for terrific takes on all of the Indian/UK classics.

Blah. I got yanked into someone else’s vision of eating«real» Indian food in the«authentic» Indian section of London. Um, no. I felt like making fun of myself while walking down Brick Lane with a giant group of white American tourists. Ug — embarrassing. I am quite confident that good Indian food exists in London. I suggest looking for a resto that has been highly rated by lots of locals rather than staring at a guidebook that suggests«taking in the culture» of this«vibrant» and«unique» neighborhood and«taking your pick of one of the fine eating establishments». Those are all code words for«the locals are going to be laughing at your white tennis shoes, backpack and matching baseball hats while they serve you day-old food.»

Indian food on Brick Lane, novel idea? I think not but it does not stop this place from having really good Indian food though. Competition in the area helps to keep the quality of the food really good and the prices down. If you are window shopping and it seems like the dining room is full, go and ask because there is plenty of seating downstairs. The food was really good and it was at a pretty good price, they seem to handle large groups pretty good as well so bring the gang.

The guys hook it up with free beers and deals every time… as does every other curry house on Brick Lane, but for some reason we always gravitate towards Cinnamon. Plus they’ve always been so accommodating when we go in big groups. Stand out dishes have been the Duck Karahi and the Lamb Tikka. Plus, NOCORKAGEFEE! Always love no corkage fees.

This is actually one of the better Indian restaurants on Bricklane. Currys are all the expected types(Balti/Vindaloo/madras etc). They do have a good Chefs specials section with some interesting dishes. The curries are rather heavy though and pretty average but service is fine & I have eaten here a few times without any bad experiences so I think this is ok for Bricklane!
