Look no further: Brick lane has many indian/Bangla restaraunts and believe me I have tried most of them. Our office was just around the corner and this is my favourite and still is. It’s been a while since been here but the staff still recognised me with the usual warm welcome. Pleasure to be back.

I went with my school here, so we basically booked up the whole restaurant but people did come in, like 5 tables so it was a full house. They did not start serving until everyone arrived at our table. and they started with starters and mines was cold besides this one piece of chicken… and then came the mains… which was a bit warmer. and then they forgot my naan. but when it did come out with me pestering about it… it was sooo delicious… probably the most delicious naan i’ve had… ever…it was just out of the oven so many that’s why, but it’s thick which was great with my curry! It’s at the beginning of the brick lane after you exit the tube so it’s very easy to find. There’s a flat screen tv as well. but my back was facing to it so i couldn’t watch any of the music videos they were playing :(

Apparently this place is where one of Jack the Ripper’s victims had her last drink… that’s about all I remember from this experience. Because I was drunk. Well I remember that they weren’t very prompt with the poppodoms and I had to ask them to bring our wine. Blue Nun? Really, Lizzie G. You ordered Blue. Nun? The vegetarian food is pretty good here and they were very sweet about our ridiculous drunken loudness. I wasn’t thrilled that the waiters kept spraying cleaning fluid on nearby tables. Um I’m eating here. I’d come back, but only so I could give it a fairer review.

I’m biased. My brother loves it here and has an unhealthy obsession with the owner. He comes in and it’s like old long lost friends greeting each other… it’s like a family being reunited. If you haven’t guessed my brother loves curry, actually he just loves spice, silly hot spice. It was actually not until last night when two slightly drunk Unilocalers stumbled through their chic glass doors, that I had eaten here. Ordering a selection of veggie delights of the menu, the waiter nervously handed over the bottle of Blue Nun white white, along with a mountain of popodums and mango chutney. Service here is fabulous, they go out of their way to help and the food, as far as brick lane goes is pretty tasty. So this area is steeped in history, and this place use to be a pub. It’s where one of Jack the Rippers victims had her last drink. Ask the guys who work here, they love to talk about it. On Brick Lane this place is as good as any, actually it’s even better… it has David Gold’s seal of approval!

A couple of friends were visiting from Germany, and my heart sank when it was suggested they try ‘a real British curry house in famous Brick Lane’. Surely their trusty Lonely Planet had something to say about the ‘free beer and 50% off my friend?’ touts dragging unsuspecting tourists into tacky, tired restaurants? Persuading myself not to be such a jaded killjoy, I looked up the promising reviews and we all headed to Sheraz Bangla Lounge on Saturday night. OK so Sheraz doesn’t have touts outside. And the restaurant is clean and contemporary. It might be a bit lacking in atmosphere, but the ‘lads night out’ crowd chugging down Cobra and chicken tikka made up for that. The vibes were loud and lively — not ideal for a romantic soirée, but a fun introduction to the British curryhouse experience. The staff are polite and friendly. Our reserved table was right by the door, amidst the constant traffic of lads going to the loo or converging outside for a fag. But after a polite request, the manager found us a much better table and seemed keen to make us feel at home. This isn’t the Brick Lane customer service experience I remember from the past. The food is a hit and miss; rice and bread fine, dhansak nice, vegetable balti a bit like Baxters vegetable soup, chicken passanda like babyfood. But at least it was all fresh, and the prices were spot on — poppadoms, two beers, main courses for 4 all came to £46. So if you really need to eat out in Brick Lane Sheraz is definitely one of the best options.

A good indian place. Wouldnt recommend it for a romantic dinner but great to visit with work. The food is great and the staff are friendly. Kind of cheap, very comfy chairs and have good set menues.
