I was looking for a place to enjoy a good dinner. tonight and I let myself go to the C&B restaurant. I was not looking for a gourmet but only a decent one. As I was walking in the City, I just entered into C&B because the lay-out sounded good but that was the only good thing. The waitress, neutral, «done her job», giving me a table. Then I ordered a glass of french wine«Cotes du Rhôné Vignobles Gonnet 2011»(£9) & a Sirloin Steak«medium» with fries(£13). Here we come : For a £9 glass of french wine, they serve me a glass of vinegar and the steak is overcooked, dried and tastes like shoe sole and the fries are the worst frozen fries you could have ever tasted. I don’t like the Mcdon*ld fries but I would have prefered them !!! I paid £23 for that and the least I could do is preventing people to go to that place. I know I will never go back to that place but I do hope you will follow my advice if you like real(french) wine and good/normal food. This establishment should be ashamed of what they are currently serving !!

If you’re after a post-work drink in the City, this Corney & Barrow will do ya as good as any, I suppose. The two hours I spent in post-work sunshine/early summer London surely was a fine time. With gaggles of girls perched on the lawn and throngs of suits letting off steam — it’s not bad for people watching, either.

Ok I’ve only been there for one drink on an early Friday evening, but I liked the atmosphere — full of City folk — of course! What else do you expect from a bar on Old Broad Street… but it wasn’t filthy(which is a rarity for the City). Ample space, tall ceilings and unpretentious atmosphere. I liked it a lot!

A lovely place to go for a few drinks after work in the City. As a co-worker noted, it’s very suit-y, but it’s got a great drink list, attentive staff, and plenty of space. We were a group of five who arrived right after work on a weekday and snagged a booth table in the back and spent a few hours there. To soak up the tasty Malbec, we also shared a platter of delicious vegetarian nibbles, it was great for bar food!
