They sent me the wrong necklace by mistake. At first I expected trouble, but they were incredibly nice, sent me the correct one right away, refunded postage for the incorrect one, and refunded postage on the right one as a gesture of goodwill. On top of that staff was exceptionally friendly, swift, and understanding. Great customer service!

EC One is a perfect example of a great store that just doesn’t understand customer service. My friend was having them replace a stone in her wedding ring and saw it had great reviews so I went with her and brought some vintage jewelry that needed cleaning. I got a good feel from the place and picked out countless new pieces that I would have been happy to take home with me. When the jewelry was returned it looked gorgeous and I had a fun time catching the stones in the light. Unfortunately, the first time I wore one of my earrings, a pearl fell out. It wasn’t a big deal because it happened when I put it back in my jewelry box, so nothing was lost. I took a walk back down to EC One and expected that they would make everything right again and I would leave with a new necklace I had my eye during my first visit. I showed the earring to the woman behind the counter and she assured me that it wasn’t the fault of EC One that it fell out. They would fix it, but it would be 7 pounds. Now I realize that’s not a lot of money, but I had just spent over 100 quid in cleaning and appraisal fees. The pearl had been firmly in place for 40 years and as soon as EC One cleaned it, it fell out. She told me that the glue had probably became brittle and I pointed out that they were held in my prongs, not glue. Long story short, I agreed to pay 3.50 to have it fixed. Doesn’t seem like a lot, but it was enough for them to lose a customer. Not only did I not buy that necklace but I won’t be taking any of my other vintage jewelry there. Oh well… now I’m in need of a new jewelry shop.

Named for the postcode EC1 — home to lots of London’s jewellers and diamond purveyors — this shop on Exmouth Market is something special. Clearly curated by a keen eye for quality and style, their offerings range from architectural to vintage-inspired. As well, lovers of Germany jewellery designers Niessing and Henrich & Denzel will be chuffed to know EC One carries a good selection from both. I had a fairly specific inquiry and the woman who helped me(possibly Alison, one half of the store’s husband and wife team) was very willing to discuss my needs and offered to order items in from a particular designer if they were not already carried in the shop. What’s more, they’ve got quite a sale on right now!

Every girl likes a bit of bling now and again. Me, I’m no different, I love shiny things. Now let’s not get crazy, I don’t want to look like I should be shaking my grove thing in a rap video. I like simple pieces of jewellery. I love pieces that are unique. Basically I want something that no else has or at the very least other women will say«Wow…I like that.» Because if you don’t know, there is nothing higher than a complement from another woman, what can I say, we just notice things. Well, if you are like me and want simple and beautiful jewellery you need to visit EC One. The shop is in Exmouth Market and has an excellent selection of all things beautiful and shiny. What I like most about this shop is that the prices do vary. You go in a find pieces that you’ll love for less than £100 or if you feel like splurging, there are more expensive pieces. Whatever you decide on, whether it’s a ring or necklace you won’t be disappointed. Every space of the shop has a glass case with various bits to gaze at. I have found lots of things that I really love, sadly I don’t always have the budget to walk out of the store with all the things I love, but I have collected a few necklaces. The Owl collection is my favourite; it’s a large circular pendant on a chain. It’s eye catching and is a piece you can dress up or down. I love EC One and if you go in, you’ll love it to.
