Despite economic woes, Exmouth Market continues to attract independent shops. Along with Clerkenwell Tales, the new bookshop, Exmouth Market also has a new jewelry shop cum workshop. Former Dubliners, Barry and David McCaul are young contemporary goldsmiths who craft beautiful and unique rings, pendants, and earrings, in 18k gold. Some pieces are simply gold, while others include coloured stones, diamonds or pearls. Their work is bold, elegant, stylised, simple but not severe. Their pieces flow, curve and play with light and space and perception. The sweeping shapes are inspired by Spanish architect Santiago Calatrava The shop is welcoming with its mix of dark and light wood with display cases at eye height. The two brothers also have their workshop in plain view, with its interesting array of professional tools and gadgets. Barry and David are affable chaps who are welcoming, friendly and happy to talk about the shop and their treasures.
