Euston Square Hotel

Was staying one night as a business traveller and not impressed at all. Not a very nice room, both bedside lamps not working, shower door not fully closing and most importantly very noisy because of the big road next to it. Definitely not something to recommend especially that I paid £160 for this!

Ich hatte für dieses Hotel einen Übernachtungsgutschein für ein Wochenende geschenkt bekommen.
Als ich diesen Gutschein dann einlösen wollte, ließ man sich im Hotel regelmäßig verleugnen.
Anfragen per Email wurden nicht beantwortet, verschiedene Anrufe blieben nahezu nutzlos, mit dem schlecht englisch sprechenden Personal konnte ich kaum korrespondieren.
Angeblich wäre der Gutschein nicht bezahlt worden. Da der Besitzer im letzten Jahr gewechselt hatte, war es scheinbar auch nicht mehr möglich, die Buchführung einzusehen.
Versuchen Sie mal so eine Situation — in der es auf rechtliche Feinheiten ankommt — zu klären…
Nach vielem Hin und Her, unendlich viel Zeit und Nerven, erhielt ich schließlich den Gegenwert zurück.
Ich warne vor diesem Hotel!!!

I want to warn anyone seeking accomodations to avoid the Euston Station Hotel. The rooms are extremely small and over priced. My collegeaues and I contracted for a stay but found that the price had changed when we arrived. The two ladies had a room with a faulty air conditioner and my room the AC turned off every 20 mins which required me to get up and turn it on again. The outside temperature was in the 80s. The ladies complained the their AC didn’t work and after calling the front desk repeatedly one of the ladies was forced to go down to the desk and demand that the AC be turned on. The resultant noise was unbearable and they didn’t sleep. We talked to the owner who led us to believe that he would refund our money only to find out he charged us for 7 nights… we stayed for 1. It is now under legitation. In my opinion the owner was deceptive and untrustworthy. We are educators and Christians so I hope that anyone who plans on staying there will reconsider. He wants to buy the hotel and I think we were seen as contributors.

This hotel is exactly what it rated, about a 3 star. The desk staff were excellent, the room was adequate and I thought quite descent size for the price. Safe area, easy access to train station and tube. Cons, the cleaning staff were rude. They were very noisy in the early mornings, slamming doors etc. I’d been traveling for many hours and a sleep in would have been nice, but not an option. The wireless is lame, as you are forced to sit in the lobby. As I was sitting in the lobby, one of the cleaners began to vacuum around my gear and feet, like I was inconveniencing her. I had to leave, as I could no longer continue on my Skype call. I think I’d try another hotel next time I’m in town.

Terrible hotel for a business trip.
They «have» wifi — which means that in the tiny tiny reception area (if you can call it that) you can connect to an old school ADSL/​wifi router. Not only is that slow but once you move a bit to the left (or god-​forbid!) to your room, you lose connection.
Rooms are nearly clean, occasional cracks in the walls and absolutely tiny bathrooms (don’t try to turn around while you’re in, or you’ll get stuck! :)
I found the staff to be unfriendly to the point of nearly hostile and useless as well. Any attempt to try to initiate communication with a manager was blocked by them refusing to give me their employee id’s or names or anything of the kind and they just threw a hotel «business card» with the generic email address on it and told me to use that for any complaints. (Of course the line rings to reception and the emails arrive there too so no chance of getting through to anyone!)
While its location could make it ideal for a stay in Central London, I highly discourage everyone from staying there — unless you want a lot of attitude and lot less help from the staff…
Last but not least, don’t be fooled by the «storefront» photo — looks good from the outside, but the devil is in the details…

Good location for Euston rail and Euston Sq tube
Able to keep baggage as well for that last minute shopping :)

I found the service to be great. My room was thoroughly cleaned daily, the front desk staff was polite, and I always saw cleaning staff bustling around.
Pros:
–Location (right above Euston Square tube stop and next to Warren Street tube stop) Felt like a safe area.
–Price: reasonable for quality and location — breakfast included (decent offerings of toast, cereal, pastries, fruit, juices, cheese/​ham).
–Rooms: TINY but adequate, clean, and modern
–Free wifi (get access code from front desk)
Cons:
–Shower: horrible configuration that sprays water everywhere, the shower head (nozzle) does not adjust, and the water pressure hurts.
–Bed: hard (maybe this is a «Pro» for you)
–Noise: Even with the windows closed, you can hear the constant hum of traffic from Euston Road. It’s not horrible but the occasional siren is piercing, so maybe bring earplugs.
–Sink: tiny tiny tiny. Washing your face ensures that the floor will be soaked. There is no counter space — only shelving above the toilet.
Overall, I enjoyed my stay (except for jet-​lag that kept me sleepless for days), would recommend the hotel, and would consider staying here again because of the location, primarily.

Service was crap. Room’s were extremely modern but kind of creepy in that they were thoroughly modern but had no character and seemed liked they belonged in a bad part of Tokyo not London. We stayed there because we came in from Liverpool and were exhausted and needed a hotel right away near Euston. OK in a pinch. .. but you would do better elsewhere, unless you arrive completely hungover from Liverpool and need to sleep immediately. In that case: recommend it entirely!
