The sandwiches in here are pretty big so make sure you have an appetite before you order them. That being said, the bacon is really fatty, the sausages a little gristly for my taste and while the bread is doorstop how ‘done’ it is really depends on the day. I actually quite like the salads here as it’s a ‘fill your own’ so you can stock up on the things you really like rather than pre-packed salads which are mostly lettuce. They have a good mix of healthy and unhealthy options and whether you get small or large I think it’s really good value. Make sure to get there before 1pm if you can though as it goes quite quickly. On a Friday make sure to get in early or go after 10am as loads of companies do massive orders and you will get stuck behind them. They accept card but only on orders over £5.

Oh boy, maaajor guilty pleasure alert. On the all-too-frequent occasions that the central line is misbehaving in the morning and I end up train-ing it to Liverpool St, I always cheer myself up on the extra long walk on to my office with a wander along the historic back alleys in this area and of course, a stop at Fuzzy’s. The menu is cheap and cheerful and everything is indulgently oversized. My treat brekkie is 2 slices of granary toast with butter and honey — they always slice the bread nice and fat, and drizzle over a very generous squidge of honey. Mmmm. I usually add a latte as their coffee is v good value vs the chains and tastes fine. I don’t really go in for the greasier stuff but I have colleagues that swear by their bacon and egg sandwiches the morning after a big night out if that’s what you’re after. They also do a full on roast line-up at lunchtime — your choice of roast meat in a bap/roll/bread/box with assorted roast veg and traditional sauces. Be warned, they stuff the sandwiches so generously that there’s no graceful way to eat them. Pick up a fork. And make time for a nap to recover afterwards. Cross your fingers if there’s a queue as the toast can come out a little overdone when they’re busy, and it’s very sad to uncover burnt toast when back at my desk. Almost as sad as the time I went in and didn’t have cash — watch out for the £5 min card spend else you’ll be buying extra bacon sarnies to make up the difference!

Oh! Fuzzy’s Grub! Cannot eat better than this for the price. For breakfast, there’s the egg plus sandwiches, all around £3, large porridge for £2, pastries, and the best toast in town for £1.20. Awesome tea, coffees, chocolates, smoothies, etc. At lunch, there’s the traditional roasts: topside of beef, leg of lamb, loin of pork, turkey breast, chicken breast. With, you can have all or any of the following: Yorkshire pudding, roast or mashed potatoes, peas and carrots, sage and onion stuffing, crackling and gravy. Go to town. All for £5.50 There’s also pies: chicken, cottage, steak and mushroom. And bangers & mash. If you want salad, you don’t pay by ingredient. Choose all or any, add a meat and enjoy for £3.85 small or £5.85 huge. Vegetarian salads £1 less. Sandwiches are £4.95. Only open for breakfast and lunch and most don’t have seating. But they are typically very near a park or square where you can sit & people watch, which definitely adds to your meal. For example, for the Fleet St. branch, you can sit in St. Paul’s churchyard or in the gardens of the Inns of Court. Several locations around town, all with the same superb quality. Most close at 4:30 so suitable for a very early dinner too. Enjoy! See my pictures at

My first Fuzzy’s experience came in Nov 2011. I should’ve been back in the US celebrating Thanksgiving with my family but unfortunately couldn’t make it. Fuzzy’s was a homemade thanksgiving meal away from home. I went every single day that week. The roasts(turkey, beef, pork, lamb) are incredible. Very juicy, tender meats. The trimmings — mashed potatoes, stuffing, peas, carrots, cranberry sauce, gravy — perfectly matched the plate, creating my most perfect thanksgiving meal. You can also get these roasts in salad or sandwich form. I always choose the £5 box(£6 with a drink). The yorkshire pudding was a great addition too. Fuzzy’s Grub is an amazing meal for the super hungry city-dwellers in need of a nutritious filling meal on the quicker side. Such a great deal too! There’s no seating, which is a bummer, but all the goods outweigh that one little insignificant bad.

My firm has recently moved offices … from Liverpool street to a location between Bank and St Paul’s. Now this entails a search for new coffee shops and lunch places. This has pretty much been my main job this Christmas :) The first positive result of this quest was«Fuzzy’s grub». Their primary focus is on serving roast meat. You get a good portion of roast lamb, beef or pork along with an assortment of sides … potatoes(whole or mashed), carrots, peas, Yorkshire puddings and gravy … all for just £5.75. I have just tried the lamb so far and it was extremely tasty … though maybe cooked a bit too rare for my liking. Although I haven’t visited them for breakfast yet, my colleague tells me they sell a really meaty bacon sandwich which I am looking forward to trying. I am sure this will be one of my weekly regulars from now on.
