The best thing about this place is the huge beer garden. Food’s not bad either.

Went here in 2009 for a friends birthday… Very good food.

It’s a pub it sells booze. Don’t eat and if you have to, choose something impossible to muck up like nachos. Oh. Wait. On second thoughts have a beer & leave it at that

Instead of offering American-​style food, they should start with American-​speed service. Takes over an hour between sitting down and getting food.

I’ve lived about 10 minutes walk from Henry J Beans for almost 7 years and I had never ever entered until I was walking by in search of a cold pint and saw those intoxicating words: BEER GARDEN.
Well, the garden is absolutely massive. If it were rezoned as a private house it would easily be worth £10 million pounds — it’s almost the size of a square, and beautifully lush. Sitting inside might be a bit shit, but the garden is really nice on a sunny day.
The service was actually really good, though the waiters/​waitresses were spread a bit thin. That said, once I placed an order for drink they were on the table almost immediately — and seeing as I drank many beers it was sort of necessary that they come in rapid succession.
My «imported beef hot dog» was actually vile — it was probably the only hot-​dog in my life I genuinely couldn’t eat (and I was a bit hammered and would’ve probably eaten a real dog so…). My wife had chicken crunchies which were pretty good, though they more resembled triangle hash browns than chicken fingers. We also shared some curly fries which I really enjoyed.
Without the garden this place would get a 2, but with the garden BAM 4 stars!

The lamb was good but you’re playing music over the Chelsea game… and I’m in Chelsea!?! Who does that? Nice patio in the back and if my review wasn’t so biased about the music playing in the background which caused me to leave at half-​time for another pub, I’d probably give this place four stars.
Plus get some more beers in there please. No cask selection.

The saving grace for Henry J’s is the outdoor beer garden. Yes, it has an American theme, and plays American football (and English football from illegal (?) international feeds), so it can be a fun night, but the inside is nothing special, and the beers on tap could be better. It’s open later than most of the other pubs in the area though, so if you’re on the King’s Road and don’t want to hit a club Henry J’s is a good choice. Go in the summer though, and you won’t be disappointed!

Came here for drinks before going to the Big Easy for dinner. Pretty chill bar, and as promised, a huuuuuuuge (and decently pretty) beer garden in the back. I went after work on a Thursday and the place was packed with 20’s/30’s after work crowd. pending nice sunny weather, it’d be a great place to plop down for a drink if you’re around Chelsea.

I’ve been here a couple of times when visiting London and always have a good time. I think that it is expensive, but then again, everything in London is expensive to me because, as an American, I get killed by the exchange rate. I haven’t eaten much of the food there, but the drinks and service were great. There is (or at least was, it has been a few years since I was there) outdoor seating in a nice garden out back. The inside space is large and has a decent amount of seating.

Wow seems as if there is a mixed review on Henry J Bean’s. I went there on a Wednesday late afternoon as I was making my way back to Chelsea Harbor, the afternoon quickly turned into evening and I enjoyed the atmosphere and yes it was more like an American pub then a British Pub but I met quite a few women there educated/​professional/​beautiful British Women to be specific. This pub resides on the legendary King’s Road and I’m sure it gets a lot of young tourist from the states and all over the world visiting as they make their way up the road. They had some really good Scottish Beef Burgers and served some very tasty cocktails. Definitely an ideal place for singles to mingle.

We celebrated friends birthday on a week night mid July, had a bit of a problem with seating– even though we booked beforehand. The bar has a lovely big garden, unfortunately it shuts quite early– as most places in the UK. Inside is spacious but the interior is a bit tired and feels like could do with a bit of paint!

Great place to enjoy nice weather sitting on a great garden at the back of the pub, while sipping down a beer or having some of their typical pub (but on the American side) food.
It makes a nice relaxing spot on King’s Road.
However, on sunny days it gets very busy, so good luck finding a table outside! If you do, you are onto a winner.
And it is good either for a group of friends or just a couple, either way.

At the suggestion of Lizzie G., I tried this place out for their pre-​fixed American Thanksgiving. Upon entering, I wasn’t sure what to expect in the terms of food. The place is decorated to resemble an American Bar covered with American flags and license plates. At this point, I could tell my family wasn’t sure about my restaurant choice and I was nervous.
Fortunately, our expectations for a delicious Thanksgiving dinner we would have back in the states were met, and I was able to breathe again. We had pre-​ordered the meal, and for just twenty three pounds a piece we each got a cocktail of our choice (try the smooth criminal!), an appetizer, main course, and dessert. I had the fried camobear with cranberry sauce, which I’m still thinking about, the turkey with potatoes and salad, and the pumpkin pie. I was completely stuffed! All in all, my London/​American Thanksgiving dinner was a success!

The garden in the back is a beautiful place to kick back and have a few drinks with friends on a warm summer day. I’ve had many enjoyable lunches and after-​work drinks here.
Inside however is not as impressive. It’s a sports bar, with televisions everywhere. As another reviewer said, the atmosphere is like that of a frat party. It is like that most of the time… lots of young men getting pissed. So if that’s your thing, you’ll like this place.
The food is ok… standard pub fare at fair prices. The chili in the bread bowl is delicious.
Overall, I’d say go to this place for the garden in the summertime.

CAVEAT!!! I only go here for the beer garden and that’s the only reason I’m giving it this many stars!!!
It’s a terrible TGI Friday sort of spoof and the sight of some of the *cough* clientèle it brings in sort of puts me off (think frat party). But if I’m in Chelsea and need to cool off from shopping, it’s nice to pop in and run to the back garden. A) it’s away from the sports tvs B) you can’t hear the music if it’s on C) You can sometimes find a cozy leafy corner to hide in. It really is a big garden so you can find a nice place to stake out.
I don’t go here for food, I probably never will. Just a nice stop for an outdoor pint or Pimms jug!

I’m not a fan. It’s one of those chain style American eateries/​bars/​clubs that’s so bland and boring it’s like cabbage before the Germans got hold of it and did stuff with fermentation. The only reason I have been here is because it has one of the biggest beer gardens in the area. It really is the only selling point. However, they’re even arsey about that. They kick you out at about 10pm because apparently the noise disturbs the neighbours. Why can’t they just turn up Radio 4 huh?
The food is average, really average. And on either Friday or Saturday it is imperative you avoid this place. It gets so ridiculously busy and the music becomes even more dreadful that you may be driven to do wildly illegal things with a cheeseburger and bottle of WKD.

Looked promising but disappointed somewhat.
The restarant has an amazing garden out back — perfect for warm summers evenings. The food is great but the service is not up to scratch.
If you’re paying £9 for a burger is it too much to ask for someone to bring it to your table?
You order at the bar and are given one of those flashing beeping devices that goes crazy when your food is ready. Fine. Except when you get to the bar don’t expect a friendly face and a helpful attitude. It gets worse: I ordered curly fries only to be given the regular kind. Boo!
Rather head to the Big Easy BBQ and Crabshack just down the road.

This may be a controversial review because I have never been in this restaurant.

I have seen a group on Qype called Save the pub well why was this not saved?
In the 60’s and early 70’s there was only one place to be seen. It was where the Swinging Sixties happened (other than clubs).
It was called The Six Bells.
Shopping was done in the Kings Rd. Quant. Biba. Lord John. THE place to buy clothes and afterwards everyone went to the Six bells. Sat afternoon you couldn’t move!
Bands like The Kinks played there. movie stars mingled with the punters. famous Jazz bands visited to play from USA. It was the Hub!
It even had it’s own jazz Club.
Here Terance Conran met his wife Shirley. They were in the same social circle as Ossie Clark and Mary Quant. At the time, we were all frustrated designers unable to get our ideas accepted by the big department stores. So we took things into our own hands and started up fashion businesses or hairdressers.
Before all this is the early 19^th century and the time of the Bloomsbury set. it was frequented by artists. An account at the time:

Sad that developers get their hands on places like this. last year Cleethorpes Winter Garden went. who played there? Rod Stewart, Queen, The Sex Pistols and many more.
Am I just being sad? Apparently Camden Market is next. nice M & S and Primark instead?

I always think this place feels American I’m not sure why. It may be the name or it may be the slightly Texas saloon vibe you get once you walk through the doors. It has lots of tables scattered around, a lot of them high tables with high chairs. But there are also some sofas which are definitely comfier!
The drinks are ok priced but not cheap (it IS the Kings Road after all). There is a courtyard area out back which is rather nice for smokers or on a sunny day or warm evening!

This Bar is a Must if you enjoy nice atmosphere and a open garden. Henry J Beans is a very busy Bar but once you enter the place, It is as though you are taken into another Dimension, There is a lovely big garden at the back which is nice in the summer and its a gods send for those who smoke. The food is lovely and the service is very quick and polite. There is a great choice of drinks and they do lovely cocktails.
I would reccomend this bar to every one and it is a great place for a party as well.
