Indulgence Bar & Grill

Poor, the beer in tap was off or had not changed the barrel people behind the bar were rude and not warm at all. Having said that its just found the corner from work so we went back!

I went here last night as my friend had a voucher for 6 cocktails for £12 so we had 3 each for £6 each.
As soon as we arrived, we felt the atmosphere — there wasn’t really any, even for a Monday night — and the joint was a tad flat and it was pretty empty with only about 4 others tables mainly with couples or a group of workmates. It also was blaring out house and dance music which didn’t seem in keeping with the tone and atmosphere.
As it was so empty, you felt a little uncomfortable with the barstaff as it meant they were either staring at you and they appeared a little sleazy. They made a real meal of making the cocktails, as my friend said to try to make themselves look good — err believe me, Tom Cruise they weren’t. Also, the cocktails were pretty rubbish too — you certainly wouldn’t want to pay regular prices for them.
Before leaving, we popped downstairs to the ladies and spied another bar area too. The loos were pretty grim, two needed a bit of a clean and a flush that worked and the cubicle door was hanging off the loo I had to use, as the only other free one was in the dark! What a choice!
Literally a stone’s throw from Barbican tube but I wouldn’t return.

Went here with some friends with a voucher each for 3 cocktails for £5. Really good cocktails, bar staff a little pretentious, one of the guys made fantastic cocktails, one didn’t. At least when we brought the bitter cocktails back the talented dude remade them, no worries.
This was a great deal with the vouchers, place was quiet so was ok for us, nice place to start a night out!

came here on a thursday evening for cocktails with a friend. Overall, the place was not packed (as some good spots in the city can get on a thursday evening). I got the impression that they try to come off as a classy joint… but i felt it had a slightly cheap atmosphere… from the decoration, to the bartenders and patrons. I didn’t look closely at the food menu, but the cocktail menu was a little on the dull side. Basically just the classics, with slight variations… but nothing that really called out to me. nothing really interesting or exciting. In fact, some were even served in glasses that seemed too cheap to serve cocktails in (plastic-​tumbler-​esque.) Additionally, the bar staff were cold and uninterested in the customers… had to search hard for a smile behind the bar (and didn’t find it). Also, the music was far too loud for an after-​the-​office-​drinks kind of place… my friend and i had to shout just to hear each other.

The Indulgence Bar & Grill is a beautiful little joint found just outside Barbican underground station, and I would of loved to patron it alot longer, get a feel for the place. However the place was empty when I passed it the first time, and as I like to sit down in a corner and be inconspicuous, absorbing the atmosphere, so I decided to wait until my return journey to pay a visit. Good plan! Except it was completly empty 2 hours later as well.
I went in anyway and was immediately flanked by the waiters (I can hardly blame them) so I just asked for tap water and took my seat on the elegant curved red leather sofas, waiting for a spark of inspiration or magic to happen… and it didn’t. The waiters were watching me directly from behind the bar, making me very uncomfortable, so I bought my stay to a swift end. The menu, full of excellent sounding steaks and cocktails, is one you should check out. but expect to pay alot!
