Food was OK. Nothing spectacular.
Had Sunday roast, both pork and beef.
The beef was too chewy and the pork was a tat overlooked. The gravy was also very watery too which was annoying!
They ran out of cups when we wanted a cup of tea. Not acceptable when the bar was half empty!

I got in there on a Sunday afternoon/​evening and the place was not too crowded, but most of the sitting places were already taken. It’s way out off the main streets, so it should’t surprise anyone that this place is not bustling on a lazy Sunday.
But the staff was completely lost. I had to wait about 40 minutes to just get the waiter attention to put my order. Than another dozen of minutes to get him to bring me the food.
On the up side, they seem to have a nice wine selection, but why would you drink wine in London?!

Nice little hidden pub in the alleys near Liverpool Street. We came here on a Saturday night. Super chill place. Really friendly staff. Lots of beers on tap. Great place for groups — there were 8 of us and had no issues finding seats. The pub isn’t noisy either so it’s a great place to catch up with friends. Highly recommend it!

Wir waren im Abstand von etwa einem Jahr zweimal hier und waren beide Male sehr angetan vom Kings Stores. Das Essen ist qualitativ sehr ordentlich und rechnet man den City-​Bonus mit dazu, ist auch der Preis in Ordnung.
Etwas schade war, dass beim letzten Besuch die Speisekarte ihrer britischen Wurzeln bis auf Fish ‘n Chips vollständig beraubt wurde. Hier war vor einem Jahr deutlich mehr geboten, was auch das Ambiente des Ladens unterstrichen hat. Die Bier-​Auswahl ist groß und bietet sowohl für experimentierfreudige als auch für konservative Deutschländer etwas.
Der Laden ist vor allem Abends recht voll mit gemischtem Publikum und bietet so eine London-​Light-​Erfahrung, die vor allem für City-​Wiederholungstäter eine willkommene Abwechslung sein dürfte.
Das Personal ist stets freundlich, aber etwas überfordert mit den Tischen. Die Kolleginnen und Kollegen sind zwar flink und niemand muss hungern oder dursten — es fehlt jedoch eine gewisse Leichtigkeit im Tun.
Alles in Allem dennoch ein empfehlenswerter Laden in sehr guter Lage, der sich ein wenig abseits befindet und beileibe kein Touri-​Fang ist.

A hidden gem of a pub near Spitalfields market this really is a place to know to avoid the crowds.
Honestly, I think that’s why I liked it so much. If you don’t know this place is there you’re pretty unlikely to stumble across it. AKA no tourists heaven.
An okay selection of beers and ciders; the interior is generic London pub and the food looked decent enough.
Definitely one to keep on hand when wanting to avoid the crowds!

A good place to escape the major City /​Shoreditch hordes, located just slightly off the beaten path.
The décor is composed of a mixture of exposed brick, dark wood, and vintage touches… a sort of ‘modern traditional pub’ feel. Beer and ale selection is excellent and includes local brews such as Shoreditch and Camden Ales.
The music is usually palatable as well, eschewing the traditional top 40 screeching post-​x-​factor tunes for more alterna-​indie sounds. It suits the venue well. I haven’t tried the food yet but the evening bar food fare looked quite tasty, perfect to accompany a few pints.

Attractive pub, all dark woods and exposed brickwork inside. We were there one Saturday lunchtime; it was buzzing but not too busy and certainly easier to get a seat than other places nearer Spitalfields.
The beer, based on a recommendation from the waitress, was great. Food was more mixed. The goat cheese salad was very well received, as were the cheese sandwiches (although the ‘aged cheddar’ didn’t taste particularly mature).
The tempura battered soft shell crab burger was less successful — and with hindsight I’m wondering how it could be. One relatively large crab, battered whole and stuffed between two halves of a bun, with its claws sticking out the side. I half expected it to get up and scurry across the table. But the main problem was the taste. The crab is so delicate, and the wasabi mayo was so thinly spread, the overwhelming taste was tempura batter. So I effectively had a batter sandwich and chips. Bad choice, but there was plenty of other things on the menu to try.

As your typical «American» I felt this pub had an aesthetic decorum with an attentive staff. The ale selection exemplifies quality and selection; a definite cut above the rest of the London Pub scene. I assure you, pubbing is all i have done while here for «work». Any-​who, although I am on a hops diet, the food looked like it would exceed anyone’s gastro pub food desires. Drop in and have a scoop or two. Cheers mate!

Wir hatten verschiedene Vorspeisen waren alle Superlecker! Und danach haben wir uns noch das Steak geteilt halb durch wie es sein muss selten leckeres gegessen! Service war freundlich, aber nicht aufdringlich. Auch die Lokation war schön. War Ok :)

Hmmm… I’m torn. Has the makings of a great pub, this. Impressive beer and ale selection (I wanted to try them all), and the interior is nice enough, just the right side of the wipe-​dry wooden look. It’s a big place, and has an upstairs just for dining too. Perhaps they’re known for their food offerings, but there was little to suggest that. Its location tends to make it a post-​work drinking spot and, as such, people come and go, jostle for seats and block access to the bar and doors. A tad frustrating. But come for the beer — it’s decent. Certainly better than the look of the pub, and the transient clientele, suggests.

Average London Pub
So we stumbled across this place during a tour of Spitalfields Market — obviously we took a wrong turning somewhere… It has a pleasant first impression, warm and modern, but not too trendy. Lots of wood, and a huge club table in the middle ideal for groups. The ground floor is broken into two sections, the main bar area and then an area set for diners. The menu seemed interesting, nothing too rixsky, generic gastro pub fare. Music was rat pack, which I always enjoy.
We didn’t eat, we just wanted a wee drink before taking on the markets again, though the food looked good and of decent portions. The young bar tender wasn’t particularly knowledgeable about his beer. But he tried, and he sold us a good glass of red wine and I took a risk on a local ale I had ever heard of before.
It was all fine, nothing more, nothing less.

I came to Kings Stores for dinner just before Christmas. The setting in the small alleyways between Liverpool Street station and Spitalfield’s market is great, it feels like there could have been a pub on the site for hundreds of years. Inside is aesthetically pleasing with exposed brickwork on the walls.
The beer is standard pub fare. The food tries to be of the gastro pub variety but is also standard pub fare too.

The King’s Stores is a perfectly nice little pub down in the picturesque little alleyways near Spitalfield’s market. The atmosphere of the pub has traditionally been a little lacking, but a visit to the King’s Stores this past weekend proved that they’ve been doing a bit to make the place a bit more interesting – framed prints of historic early-​1900s London photographs, for instance, and the removal of the horrible mirror/​electronic advert thing in the ladies’ toilet.
The beer is fine, the food can range from «standard pub fare» up to «quite nice” – the Ploughman’s is especially impressive for a decently-​cheap pub.
My favourite thing about this place is the setting. The little alleyways on which it is situated are perfect for hanging out outside on a warm summer evening, and with no cars and very few pedestrians to contend with, there’s plenty of room to spread out. No tables outside, but more room for the crowds outside than any similar pub I’ve seen in other areas of town. The surrounding area is lovely and diverse, with nearby shops ranging from nice little boutique-​y dress shops to potentially-​grotty Chinese restaurants-​cum-​karaōke bars. The little cobblestone streets and ancient storefronts are, for someone not born and raised in the UK, just the most wonderful, picturesque, romantic thing ever.
Look out for the super-​campy Jack the Ripper tours heading past every hour or so. Those tour guides are unintentionally hi-​LAR-​ious.
