I teetered between 3 and 4 star and just felt better about a 3. So there.
Had lunch with fellow Unilocaler Bea awhile back and remember the friendliness of the staff and the food was pretty good. Had a bit of a salad and sandwich combo which was nice. If in the area and its not packed I would B-line it for this place. Wish I had room for the baked goods. They look delicious.

Always wanted to try this place but was actually really disappointed, The service was great. really on it waiters, and friendly. However the pizza was not good. soggy, made too quickly (yes too quickly… i’d rather wait a bit longer) it was just not a good pizza. I’d rather go to dominoes! or fire and stone!

I’ve been to here twice with my flatmates, both times, we all really enjoyed the meal. The pizzas are fairly priced, very large. The calzones are even bigger! There’s a yummy pear and gorgonzola pizza you can try, I hadn’t seen that combination before.
Preferably to Pizza Express, since somehow it just feels more authentic to me. Or maybe it’s that I know I can get Pizza Express food at Sainsbury for £2.99 when the restaurant charges three times that.

Just an OK from me.
I’ve had better pizza (in Camden too) and I’ve certainly had a better salad elsewhere.
The pizzas are huge with crispy bases with thick doughy crusts. No problems there. I wasn’t hugely inspired by the tomato sauce nor the mozzarella, bu the goats cheese topping we had was very good. A good old fashioned pizza for filling up on. The salad we had with chicken and chorizo was a let down… the chicken being of the processed, cubed and sitting in a pot of sauce variety. No imagination used. The chorizo was tasty but the salad greens were a little boring and uninspiring.
I liked the restaurant though — big and spacious with lots of tables and it’s perfect for big groups. The service was super quick — the food and drinks came flying out and we were well looked after. HIgh five for the Moretti on tap too.
I’ll likely come here again for a quick bite to eat but La Porchetta finds itself relegated to a back-up option for now.

I went to La Porchetta last night before a gig at the Roundhouse. I was hungry and in the mood for pizza and it definitely hit the spot! I’d visited the Finsbury Park branch about ~6 months ago and was quite pleased — the Camden branch didn’t let the side down.
I had a fiorentina (spinach, egg, garlic), while my friend had a primavera. Both arrived in a timely fashion… nice thin, crispy base and a good amount of evenly distributed toppings (that’s a big one for me). My one complaint was that the crust was ever so slightly burnt… something I normally like but this was just a bit too dry. I just started leaving my crusts aside like a lot of normal people do anyway! My friend’s pie looked like a lovely fresh salad had been plunked upon it. It was almost pretty to look at!
The service was a bit meh — my dining companion had to ask for a second coke at least twice before it finally arrived.
Otherwise, generally excellent pizza, lively atmosphere, in a great location. Bravo.

I arrived 15 minutes before lunch time closing to the message that they were only doing takeaway due to the time. I asked if I couldn’t just sit and eat quickly, to which the server replied, «sure, if it’s quick service.» +.5 star for that. He was also checked up on me a few times to make sure I was good to go even though he was cleaning and prepping for dinner service. Finally he packaged up the remainder of my pizza for me, which I couldn’t finish in my sitting.
As far as the food goes, as noted I didn’t finish the entire pizza that I ordered for my lunch. It was big enough that it was hanging at least an inch off all sides of the large plate it came out on. I ordered the Boscaiola pizza with mozzarella, tomato sauce, minced pork, chili, and porcini and button mushrooms. The pizza flavours were well balanced and the thin crust was crispy on the edges, chewy in the middle and light. Definitely the best pizza I’ve had in the neighborhood so far. I’d put it somewhere around 3.5 stars, but with the +.5 star for service that bumps it up to 4.

These guys do pizza for collection.
Ordered on a Saturday night. Food was ready to pick up within 20 minutes. The pizza is very reasonable priced & really tasty! Especially the garlic pizza bread. Without a doubt one of the best garlic breads around.
My only slight complaint is that upon entering the restaurant the staff didn’t even acknowledge my presence. If I hadn’t approached a passing waitress to ask about my pizza, I’d probably still be waiting there now! That said, the restaurant was very busy & the staff were obviously rushed off their feet. However I would still like to be acknowledged upon entry — just a smile or something is enough to let you know that you’ve been seen.
Other than that, great pizza, great price! I definitely recommend La Porchetta & the garlic bread.

The pizza here is thin, crispy and yummy. It is also a great, cheap place to swing by after an afternoon’s boozing in Camden. These are the times I have been here… therefore, am I qualified to write a review? Yes, methinks…
Order a pizza for around the £8, and they are huge, so you can totally share it with a friend, if there are 3 of you (and you’re greedy) then order 2! There are an array of toppings to choose from, and you can also make up your own combination.
The restaurant itself is huge, and gets busy. You will normally see families or groups of people in here after a day of boozing at nearby pubs :) Probably not best for a romantic meal though…

I came to this expecting to be disappointed, and I wasn’t disappointed in that respect, if you see what I mean. I used to go to the Upper Street branch and thought it was just boring and second rate, although friends loved it. So before at a gig at the Proud Gallery which we were helping organise, a few of us came, guided by Qype Radar, to the Chalk Farm Road branch. And although the bill at the end was incredibly reasonable, and the portions huge, the food was absolutely rank. My lowlight was a spaghetti vongole which even 12 hours on is making me retch at the thought of it. The clams were over-mature over-cooked little gristle-balls which had long since fallen out of their shells and given up hope of ever dying to give pleasure. And, bizarrely, there were too many off them — a horrible gravel at the bottom of my plate hat never got smaller, no matter how much I toyed with it to try and make it look as if I’d had some food. My companions didn’t complain, but their food too looked grey and canteen like. So cheap and not very cheerful overall. Wouldn’t return if I could help it.

La Porchetta struck me as a nicer version of Pizza Express, mainly due to it just having a less chainy feel but also having a wider menu. Having said that though I did end up jumping down the road most travelled aka an americana pizza.
As mentioned below, the salads are pretty unexciting but thats not what you go there for, you go for pizza and pizza is what you get, in abundance. The sheer size of the thing made me feel full before i’d cut a slice. As someone who loves climbing an edible mountain I got to work and devoured my pizza and it was delicious.
It won’t be the best place you ever go but it’s simple, not too expensive and fills a whole very nicely.

I had a great experience at La Porchetta before attending a gig a few months ago at the Roundhouse, just across the road.
Looking at the menu outside, I noticed several options for those of us weaklings who suffer from food allergies and got very excited about it.
Upon entering the restaurant, it had a wee bit of a corporate feel to it, but that was gone by the time I had my first glass of house red and some delicious mussels. By the time my lamb came around, I was thoroughly enjoying my meal and the atmosphere. Extremely attentive waitstaff (I don’t even know if they have servers for separate parts of the restaurant because we had at least 4 different people serve us) who don’t let you wait for anything.
Prices are excellent and the food is decent and satisfying. I would certainly recommend it. And I want to go back to try a cheese-free pizza without requesting it specially.

Here in London over the holidays with my wife, staying just down the street from La Porchetta. We stumbled into the restaurant (that looks like a chain, but we don’t know if it is) half-asleep and cracked out from an entire day of traveling from San Francisco via Amsterdam. Now that I think about it, La Porchetta has about as much charm as Amsterdam’s airport.
The waitstaff was friendly and probably overly attentive as one reviewer has already mentioned. They swarm your table like Italian bees. We didn’t order too much from the menu, just a couple of Peroni’s (those are what they are anywhere), a couple salads, and a pizza. The salads were more like coleslaw, as they were pretty much shredded cabbage with some sort of tangy ranch dressing (not all that tangy). I can’t really remember what was on the pizza, as it wasn’t that memorable. Ham? Chorizo? I don’t know, something meaty.
I’d say that this place is good in a pinch. No where close to the world’s best pizza. It’s mediocre, but not bad. Prices are OK.

I was very pleasantly surprised by La Porchetta. Loads of my old school friends came down to London and we went for a big fat slap up meal here for under a tenner each. It was SO good. Me and a friend did what we usually do; ordered two meals and had half of each, so that I ended up with a roast vegetable and pesto pizza and chili and prawrn linguine. It was very delicious.
There were about ten of us and it was a really lovely atmosphere in there, busy bustling everyone filling up their bellies with good Italian food– just how it should be. Their menu offers a great selection of primarily pizza and pasta so it is the perfect place for a casual meal with friends. Am going there on Monday for someone’s birthday and I am very excited. They also do puddings and have custard tarts and pofiteroles, those I have not tried… yet.

La Porchetta has a huge array of pizza and pasta to tantalize your taste buds at an attractive price. (Average pizza price is £7.50)
Forget your greasy, doughy Pizza Hut pizza. La Porchetta whips up classic thin base pizza that come with fresh toppings, and does not leave you feeling bloated afterwards.
The salad I had was tasty and well portioned. The pastas that were heading to other patrons looked impressive to.
I’d recommend La Porchetta for lunch. The décor is dark, contemporary and quite neutral in effect. For these reasons it loses the feeling of intimacy, so this wouldn’t be the best venue for a romantic meal.
Overall the service, food and value for money make La Porchetta Pizzeria a winner.

This is a difficult one for me because I dont know why I don’t like La Porchettabut I just don’t like it. My dislike is apparently quite irrational, because all my friends seem to quite like it. Maybe it’s because something has always gone wrong when I’m there — like the time that I recommended that my friend have the four cheese pizza, because I’m generally a fan of that flavour, but La Porchetta’s version turned out to be rancid (and she’s never let me forget it) Or perhaps because of the time that the waiters wouldn’t stop banging metal plates because it was about 100 different people’s birthdays in the restaurant. Or maybe it’s just because they don’t have white onion. Seriously, I asked for onion to be added to my margherita pizza and they said they didn’t have any — what kind of Italian restaurant doesn’t have a white onion on the premises???
La Porchetta may be cheap, but I’d choose to pay a pound or two more and get the pizza i want in a pleasant restaurant any day
