Having finished work yesterday and wanting some nice Korean food me and the missus decided to go to Myung Ga, we have been before so didnt expect what happened to us yesterday… We had entered inside and were waiting to be seated at first we were given a shared table seat for two when I specifically asked for table for three(honest mistake so I didnt mind). So i asked for a table for three and Wow the waitress asks the Manager by which time he says we can still sit there and just puts another chair on the side of the table… Best Customer Service??? Really??? I was starting to lose my patience and asked to be relocated to a free table and so we moved to the room at the back, the room was cold and I was not up with going to have a fight with the management so we picked ourselves up and left being utterly disappointed by this sort of service… I am a korean person and this was just shameful to my Partner and me but what riled me up more is that as we left the waitress had blurted something up in korean which was quite expletive and had I not understood it would’ve been fine but here I am writing this review in complete anger at how you can treat customers like this, if you wont give us a table just say instead of trying to fit us in with another or at least point out that you will seat us with other patrons… Be Careful who you chose to piss off in life because I am not a person to be pushed around like that!!!

This place is hit and miss. Been there twice, one amazing and one average, and since the amazing one was the more recent one, we’ll go with that. I feel like one of the judges on project runway who can only judge the one design on the runway. like, this is hard! This last time we went the food was solid and so was the service. We had a few cuts of meats for the bbq and some of their dishes. The pancakes were really good, and so were two of the noodle dishes. All in all, this place is reasonably priced(not really actually, it’s somewhat pricey, but hello London) and the food is good quality and fun. Id go back.

Amazing bibimbaps in this Kingly St spot. Forget the fancy, overpriced restaurants in Kingly Court: this is where the Koreans in London really eat — and they sit next to you. The staff mix your bibimbaps right in front of you and boy, they’re spicy and delicious.

I wanted to go to Jinnju but it was full when we tried to book, so Myung Ga it was. What struck me was how CRAZY busy this place was. I guess it might be partly due to the closure of mini korea near Tottenham court road station, but don’t believe in the lines. Seriously, don’t. The serving staff have an air of «Wong Kei» training about them– I asked for water numerous times while I waited, and it only came about 20 minutes later after we ordered our drinks… The audacity of wanting to have a sip of water! The food was perfectly fine, we went for a sharing platter of kbbq meats and veg. This is where it got a bit tricky. As a person who loves food and loves cooking, I couldn’t abide by the fact that they didn’t let the pan heat up before cooking the meat. I mean, a mumble jumble of over cooked, soggy beef(that I thankfully rescued before it overcooked, yet it was sadly brown because the pan was cold) was not the best way of showing off your food. It tasted like the meat was ok quality and well marinated, just REALLYBADLYCOOKED. So, for the second«round», we didn’t bother to wait for them to come back to cook for us(coz you know, other kbbq and yakiniku places I’ve been to just let you be, and you potter along happily cooking your own meal) and it was good, coz we let the pan heat up and then cooked the meat, but sent them into a tizzle– coz HOWDARE I COOKTHEFOOD. Finally– if you ordered the veggies, their method of kbbq would have left you with raw veggies, and since it lived on the plate with raw meat, including pork, I’m not so sure it was a good idea… It’s fine, it filled a hole and as usual, the company was a delight– which was much more than I could say about the food.

Had second dinner last night after disappointed Korean fusion restaurant. This is an authentic Korean restaurant. Unfortunately, if you want the whole experience of high end restaurant, this is not the place — like many other authentic Korean places. You need to compromise when it comes to the Korean cuisine. Hope this will change in near future.

Awful experience with expired radish pickles. Hot pot comes in 20mins without notice. Very low quality services and much overpriced foods.

I love this place. The BBQ is awesome and so is the spicy beef soup. Although it costs quite a pretty penny I’m willing to pay it now and again for this place, which is the only reason it’s now 5 stars.

The resturant service is quite sucks. We came there and she told us to wait for seat but it has extra seats without reserved. Also she wanted us to leave and finish before 6. Really feel angry about it! Never came here again!

The first Korean restaurant i went too! I would recommend this place to people new to Korean. their dimwit bibimbap is great, as well as the tofu jigae. The only thing I miss is my favourite kimchi jeon

I am quite disappointed to find that the most of reviews about this place, Myung ga(, meaning, a popular venue) are posted by others who have not acquird the expert taste in Korean Cuisine yet. And, their food or the service don’t live up to their name. Although it is conveniently located, I would advise you to pass this place if your priority is the genuine Korean taste, but if you are into the restaurant-style dining, this would fit your bill as a beginner. I advise you to try other places in Soho area, if you don’t mind walking further to the East. I have had Korean foods in Korea, USA, all over Europe, and London, or New Malden in UK. But, this place is not really for the Korean foodies. I would say they add sugar and other artificial flavoring in most of their foods. Although I address the questionable taste to the owner, she flatly refused to listen, insisting that it is her mother’s recipe, although she admit putting such stuff. Although I reminded her that we are talking about the restaurant business where the genuine flavor is the top priority. She disagreed. Furthermore, she commented that even the commercial marinate sauce jars one could find in an oriental grocery store has sugars and other stuff and why not in their kitchen, she asked back. I ask you to be the judge, if you could say 5 stars in the candied meat-serving restaurant and if the ingredients are revealed for a candid judgment. I cannot give any number but zero. The waiting was also rushed, amateurish, the table was not attended by one, but more than 3 – 4 servers at random, there was no attention but rushing to remove each plate away. That appeared vulgar. And, when I asked one server not to remove the plates as one of us is still eating, and, he removed the plate anyway, only to upset us more. When I mentioned the poor service, the waiter followed me to listen to my complaint to the boss at the counter. And the boss would not let him go away either. I can tell you this. Among Koreans, this is not the favorite place by Koreans really, in London, and you can tell from the clients sitting in the room that it was for other Asian tourists and young couples. I heard Singaporeans next to our table majorly complain about their food experience then. I felt we were being«duped.» and«humiliating» would be the next word. The price is high for the quality and the quantity is almost half of what you expect. So, although it appeared $$ priced, you will end up spending 50% more money than you would expect to spend in any other Korean restaurant in W1 area. I would suggest you walk up toward toward Tottenham Court Road or Charing Cross road area to find a far better Korean restaurant than this, if you don’t mind the humble setting. Or, simply try Bibigo a few blocks away for a nicer restaurant setting. This place really upset me and my partner. The worst was, our constructive complaint and suggestion was flatly dismissed by the boss lady. Good luck to them and thanks for making our dinner experience quite humiliating and unforgivable.

As it’s location would suggest this caters more for the Regent Street cohort as opposed to the Hipster’s of Soho. The service was friendly and despite having at least 4 different waiters, was somehow seamless and even entertaining at times. The food whilst not spectacular provided a welcome fix with tasty bulgogi, a nice hot and spicy dolsot bibimbap, and a very good calbi(as recommended by our waiter because he ‘doesn’t like vegetables’). A good lay-by if you are shopping in the area!

Really bad place. I mean the service was awful every waiter was cold and unable to talk. The food wasn’t any point close to good. Kimchi didn’t taste like kimchi and pancake was too soft and not crispy at all. Most importantly, when we were having BBQ, the pan had strong cleaning liquid smell and the meats did taste like had been washed by soap. And my friend even got stomachache after eating them. More surprisingly, we reported to them and they even didn’t apologise to us. I won’t go to this place a second time.

A group of four of us came in for korean dinner. I’m surprised that this place did not give those typical small dishes before a huge meat meal. It didn’t seem that we ordered alot of food, but the bill ended up being £100 and change. We started with the tteokbokki which are the stirfried rice cakes — WOW, THISWASSOSPICY!!! For vegetables, we ordered haemul bokum which is panfried squid with vegetables in sour and chilli sauce. The squid was good. I think this restaurant makes vegetables better than meat. For meat, we ordered: Bulgogi(I thought it could have been marinated more), Hue gui(ox tongue in lemon juice, which I did not touch lol), and Jumul luk. And then we got three Dolsol Bibimbap. I got mine with beef and NO korean spice sauce. This was my favorite. My friends weren’t satisfed with the food here, but was satisfed by the cute Korean-Chinese waiter named An.

I guess this is where I start comparing to my life in Toronto which involved my discovery of Korean BBQs and countless choices of restaurants downtown and uptown for reasonable expense. Also that there was no AYCE option was a downer as I am such a pig for meat. This place is not far from the famous Carnaby street so it was only by chance I came upon it and though okay. The restaurant looks nice from the outside and does not fail to please when seated. With a good arrangements of tables and not feeling to close to the table next door. I had the beef dumpling soup which was really nice, and kind of made me expect something good of the Ganjang beef dish i ordered. However that was kind of a let down, the beef was overcooked and the sauce lacked the spiciness that I was expecting. I guess it will be a tough deal trying to find a Korean joint that meets the high standards I am used to so fingers crossed, there are loads more choices in London.

Waitress was very annoyed since we wanted to look at the menu so I guess you better walk in prepared to order. The beef bimibap was okay, I kept repeating«where’s the beef»!

De la bonne cuisine coréenne ! Le service a été très rapide, et souriant ! On a pris des plats dans une pierre brûlante(bibimbap) avec le riz et le boeuf qui grille, c’est un délice !

Deary me Myung Ga. My friend and I both knew this isn’t the best Korean food in London(we’d both been before separately and thought it is alright…) but we were feeling lazy and didn’t want to walk all the way over to Tottenham Court Road for nicer Korea-ness. It wasn’t terrible(well…one dish was) but it just wasn’t particularly good either, and for £60, I expect yummier dinner with slightly more polite staff. — Pajeon: This was a let-down…It had a strange, not particularly fresh aftertaste and is the worst version of this I have ever tried. Even I can make it better than that! — Kimchi with pork: This was better, although the waitress took a while to bring our rice, so we sat looking at this dish for a while before we could eat it. — Kimchi hot pot: This was good, and huuuge. If we had ordered just this without starters, I would have probably given Myung Ga more stars! The loos were pretty stinky. They had a sign saying you shouldn’t flush anything(including loo-roll) down the toilet(!) Whaa’!? Ah well. The restaurant was full, with people coming in as we left… so all these bad Unilocal reviews don’t seem to affect their business.

I ate here on NYE. Booked ahead but didn’t really need to, though it was almost full when we left. My friend has a bit of a bulgogi fetish(it’s hard work getting him to go with even one portion of galbi). I caved to his demands this time and it sounds like I did right judging by some other reviews. It was tasty. The japchae and pa-jeon was average at best. Expected better but I’ve been to worse Korean restaurants in London. Waitresses were friendly and attentive.

I don’t think i’ve ever been disappointed by a Korean BBQ, but here’s a first timer here! £9.90 for FOUR slices of frozen sirloin(yes they defrozed on the grill) £7.50 for more acceptable bulgogi(and more than 4 slices) and as we didn’t want a bibimbap this time, we took an egg fried rice with vegetable which was really average This meal was boring and WTF(*frozen*expensive* meat), pass on this one!

The food isn’t bad, but the portions are very, very, small. Soups(the jjigae’s and such) are served in iron bowls that are suited for one person at most. Our server looked surprised when we asked for four bowls so we could divvy the soup up(~half a ladle per person). The real stinger:(banchan), or sides like kimchee, seasoned seaweed, sprouts, etc. is not free. Not even kimchi. No refills. I know it’s London and all, but this shocked all of us. Taste wise, not bad, but not great. A lof of what we ordered tasted slightly off, and this is coming from a person that lived in Korea for four years and in California(Korea 2) for decades. I’m giving this place 3 stars instead of 2 because it’s in London. If this place was in California or Korea, it’d probably deserve 2 stars or less. +++: The waitress cooked all of the meat for us. She was there from start to finish to make sure everything was cooked completely.

A definite yes. I give it 4 stars due to the champagne drunk by our office gathering which may have caused an enhancement of perception by our taste buds, so now i’m unsure if it was really THAT good! But we all loved it. Bim bim bap, mushroom with sesame seeds(yummy!), squid, seafood/kimchi pancakes and the list goes on — were all delicious. Service was good, the waitress even advised me against the bbq’d squid towards the chilli squid which was absolutely delicious. Not dirt cheap, but decently priced. One thing to note… dessert menu is very poor, but it’s not the first i’m seeing this at a korean restaurant. Besides, after such good food, you probably won’t want to spoil the aftertaste. I liked the big tables, gives a lot of privacy if you’re coming in a group up to 4 people. Will come back with friends now!
