How does one recognise a tourist trap? Is it location? Is it clientele? Is it pricing? Well, let me tell you about Rendezvous and see what you think. The name itself is interesting becauise I have actually used it as a location to meet friends in Leicester Square — the large shopfront sign is a useful and visible landmark in a busy tourist location Located right in the heart of the West End in Leicester Square, this café is surrounded by cinemas, restaurants, clubs, etc By its very nature, the people frequenting this area of London will largely be visitors After hours shopping/sight-seeing/etc, the café is a good spot to put one’s feet up for a little rest before more shopping/sight-seeing/etc. There is indoor as well as outdoor seating As far as the menu goes, think more of a pit stop rather than full meal. Hot drinks, ice cream, cakes, waffles, that sort of thing. Prices are consistent for what you’d expect in Leicester Square. After all, if you watch a movie at the Vue Leicester Square, it’s going to cost you more than your local suburban multiplpex even though it’s the same movie and the screen’s probably no bigger in the West End. So, you have to expect the same with the food and drink too I have found this a useful spot for refueling on trips to the West End and have met friends here. It fulfils its function but if you want great coffee/gelato/cake/etc, you won’t have to travel far to find it As to whether it’s a tourist trap, I vote yes!

Really disappointed. The pistachio ice cream did not taste a bit like pistachio, and the Ferrero Rocher shake was way too watery. Now I have always been way too lenient with my reviews, but with the exorbitant money this place charges for extremely mediocre food forces me to give them a below average review. P. S. Totally forgot about the insipid Tiramisu.

Yummy yum yum loooooovely Ice cream and waffels. I love mixing sweet and tangy so i normally go for berry, choclate, lemon and pistatio on a waffle and it is so good. With chocolate sause and some nuts its even better. Pricy but hey very often the best of anything is!!! Enjoy!

This place is absurdly overpriced, even for London. A cup of tea was 9.95 and 3 scoops of ice cream on a limp waffle was 14.95. With Häagen-Dazs and Ben & Jerry’s right on the square as well there is no reason to visit Rendezvous.

I ate here almost every night I was in London, they had some really great flavors and huge portions. It was awesome to sit outside and watch all the people in Leicester Square while eating ice cream(or sometimes cakes). A+++

This is a local meeting point for me and the girls especially in the summer as they have outdoor seating and as the majority of my girlfriends smoke apart from me, they love to go here as they can sit and relax while enjoying a cup of coffee and have a smoke while we catch up on gossip(what girls do best!). It’s a nice place to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee, tea or peppermint tea in my case, as you watch the whole world go by you. It’s right where the Leicester Sq park is so you see lots of people walking by, chatting to friends, on the mobile, hanging around waiting for people, etc etc… You you don’t fancy a hot drink then try one of their cold drinks or you can try out the smoothies they have which they make from ice cream. If you fancy ice cream then that is rather yummy too with a great choice of flavours to choose from. They also do cakes and little bites to eat. It’s a nice average café/ice cream parlour. Little on the more expensive site but worth it if you want a place to relax and rest after a hard day at work or hard day of shopping!

Got to this spot on a walk around the tourist areas of London. Looked ok from outside and inside was clean(i’m trying to keep this positive)! Sorry but I give up, THISPLACEIS A RIPOFF. Standing at the till with £15.00 in my hand wasn’t enough for two slices of cake a cup of tea and an almost undrinkable latte. Staff need lessons in pretending to want your business. A smile costs nothing they say. but here… maybe it was extra!

This is a pretty cute little place. they have a decent amount of flavors of gelato… their frozen yogurt selection was a bit sparse, but that might be due to the fact that in the states, we have fro-yo places popping up like weeds with half-a-dozen flavors each. they have a nice seating area that looks like its supposed to be ice-cream-parlor-ish. stop by, it’s not cheap, but it’s not bad either.

If someone tells you ice cream is only for the summer… run, because clearly they are mad! Or worse, they have not enjoyed the ice cream at Rendezvous. This is a year round ice cream parlour! They make sundaes with whipped cream and nuts or you can have your ice cream in a waffle cone! What I love about Rendezvous is the variety in flavours. My favourite is and always will be the coconut, but when I with other people it’s nice that they can select whatever lesser flavours they enjoy. At Rendezvous, if you are health conscious they have yogurt or you can have a smoothie(try the mango). But whatever you decide to try, make sure you have cash because they don’t take credit or debit cards and a sundae is in the £5 range.

I visited here after a night out in Leicester Square. They sell homemade ice creams(though that is debatable), cakes, sandwiches and hot drinks. However the prices are extortionate– £6 for 1 small scoop of ice cream!!! I felt sorry for the tourists in the place. I had a coffee– which tasted horrible– i‘ve drank better from my work vending machine. I had a pecan pie slice which was £5– not worth the money whatsoever. This place is a rip off and the staff are rude. Avoid at all costs. I won‘t be going back

Probably the most expensive cup of hot chocolate and cake I’ve ever had in my life. I’m not sure how they can get away with charging what they do. I only went in here because I was absolutely starving and needed to get something before I fainted. For one hot chocolate and one scone, it came to over £6 — madness! Someone shut this place down before more and more people get ripped off. At least I won’t be going back, but tourists are none the wiser. Scandeless!
