Terrible breakfast, the menu said scrambled eggs with brown toast yet we got white bread that hadn’t been toasted & when we questioned the waiter about the type of bread she seemed to have no idea about the menu. The scrambled eggs had no feta, were overcooked & looked like they’d been done in the microwave. While the coffee here is decent I won’t be coming back here & would not recommend it to anyone!

One of those places that you cannot leave because you feel so comfortable and like at home. Great coffee, lots of space, sofas you can literally sink into and doze off, cosy and chilled out place with quiet music in the background and friendly staff, close to the station. If they could just throw 2 or 3 cakes as there was not much to choose from for someone(me) who is into good quality sweet stuff.

I’m a big fan of the Sacred Café chain in London — a handful of «Kiwi» cafes dotted around the city with great coffee and decent food. Sacred’s Islington Branch is only 30-second walk from Holloway Road tube station, and most importantly… very close to my flat! It’s got some good NZ-themed décor, and it’s somehow yet cozy yet spacious at the same time. Really friendly staff. I spend many a day doing freelance work here, drinking flat whites and lapping up the free WiFi. Because this location is in a somewhat quiet sidestreet in Holloway, there’s always, always a free seat near a power plug. Sacred loses a star because only because their food & drink is more expensive than similar quality cafes in the area. Not sure that a toastie should cost four quid, you know what I’m sayin’? But still. I suppose I pay the extra because it’s a really chilled out place to sip coffee and work. You win some, you lose some.

Pretty decent coffee although not as good as Sacred would like to think. Food has taken a serious nose-dive though. it was always good but recently you get the sense that whoever’s in the kitchen couldn’t care any less. The scrambled eggs with feta cheese is a very nice dish but i’ve taken to making them at home; if the chefs ever work out that serving eggs on a freezing plate isn’t a good idea I might go back…

LOVE this place. It is a wonderful oasis off of Holloway Road. The coffee is some of the best I’ve had in London and always served up with a smile from the super friendly staff. The food is also great! The portions are huge and consistantly delish! My recommendations are the yummy cheesy scrambled eggs, the great veggie curry on rice or the variety packed hummus platter. With free wifi and cosy atmosphere it is definitely one of my favourite places in North London,

Highly overrated. Coffee is bubbly, pepper isn’t fresh but comes in packets, internet never works(and there’s no 3G reception), the serviettes are wrapped around cutlery and stuck down, feta scrambled eggs have feta in them one day and not the next.

A nice modern little café in the Highbury Studios complex just around the corner from Holloway Road tube station. I was here for the ‘International Meeting of Styles’ graffiti art event and they spent the whole day keeping the crowd fuelled up. Very reasonably priced coffee, cakes and sandwiches, and like its Soho sister this place has quirky religious objects scattered about. And it also gets a big + for probably the nicest Australian barista London has ever seen!

Sacred brings something to Holloway that is certainly missing. For the types of shops that line Holloway road, there’s an epic void of coffee houses and cafes, especially considering the fact that there’s a university smack dab in the middle of it all. I quite liked their other location and was happy to see they still pack in the same cozy decorations and vibe and are situated in a quite spacious building space which allows for groups of all sizes to hang out and relax, study, have meetings and enjoy the free wifi. You know I get a little sad as an international when places don’t take non-chip credit cards, but I’ll let this slide considering they’ve cornered the coffee market in the area!

This place is a bit of a confusion. Probably it was placed here before the recession, with the assumption that Highbury studios would become the next Angel… but that’s not likely to happen. Sacred coffee could be more out of place. The staff even looks a bit lonely, somehow. Nevertheless, they do make great coffee. Friendly New Zealand staff, plenty of space, some decent leather sofas and tables, as well as free wifi connection. The only complaint might be that they brought me a flat white, instead of a cappuccino, and somehow acted as if I wouldn’t know anyhow. The difference was obvious, but nevertheless it was an impeccable flat white. Also, you tend to feel that somebody should have considered a faint touch of light or colour on the walls, as the interiors are rather depressing.

Sacred’s newest location in Highbury Studios was a greatly needed addition to the area. With the nearest Starbucks miles away, it certainly fills a niche. The shop is actually quite large with lots of comfy seating and of course free WiFi. The mochas are great and I am always a fan of their house tea. They also have some good food to snack on. All in all a nice place to have a relaxed cup of caffeine with a friendly staff.
