I like that this pub is in a side street away from the craziest buzz of Camden high street, but still apparently popular enough to always have a lively atmosphere. The interior is nice and roomy, plus on a nice day, there is a decent amount of seating outside. Unfortunately, this is one of those pubs where the music seems a little too loud for hearing your friends talk comfortable, so that ruined the atmosphere for me a little bit. The beers are good, and it’s nice that there is a decent selection of not only ales, but also lagers(some of them being smaller craft brands). As for food, it’s not particularly amazing, but it definitely satisfies the boozy munchies. Pro tip: when they say that the classic combo(pictured below) is a sharing platter ‘for two or more’ — oh boy, definitely read that as more than two. The tasty pile of fried shrimps, chicken fillets, spicy wings, onion rings, potato wedges and baguettes is a serious feat to conquer. Do give it a shot — you won’t leave hungry.

Cool pub around camden, on thursday they have an open mic going on which I found very nice I guess they also have a double cocktail happy hour or something I don’t really know because I had wine but the table next to me was having it. One thing that i didn’t really liked was the tv around the place it really takes your attention sometimes from the conversation.

I have rated one star as there doesn’t seem to be a function for less. The food here is awful! We picked at the dreadfull looking meals we were given as we didn’t want to make a fuss but my friend was still ill for 2 days afterwards. I would never eat here again!

I can be a prize pain in the proverbial, but this lovely lot dealt with me and my demands with nice and natural nonchalance. A vegi breakfast at 4pm, sure. Poached eggs, extra soft, no problem. No hash browns? Extra tomato, grilled. Fine. I did explain how I’d once gone postal because of a hard egg, at a regular breakfast time, alas… All was brought with a confident smile as my egg wobbled being set down in front of me. My smart sausage loving sidekick was a little confused by the menu as it seemed that the bangers and mash ought to arrive with some veg, it didn’t but they were happy to bung a bit of chopped carrot and hacked cabbage in to a bowl, nuke it and bring it up promptly to make the most of the smeared gravy left. Not what I’d expect from what looked like a sports pub, but with it’s causal charm, it was a bit of everything, hip dive, comfy and cosy in areas too. Great warm winter mulled cocktails and really reasonably priced food, too.

Spacious, comfy mix of old and new pub but terrible service(we waited 15mins for a drink and it wasn’t even busy) and even worse food — the gammon was floating in grease and 40%fat, the prawn cocktail had just FOUR prawns dowsed in squirty mayo, and the hot sandwich was mostly just bread, not worth the price or the wait(another 40mins, again when it wasn’t even that busy). Great for a drink but avoid eating here at all costs.

Cozy, yet spacious pub in a great corner location. The seating is very comfortable with nooks, but enough space to accommodate large parties. The bar staff is friendly and helpful with recommendations. I enjoyed their mulled hot cider(for the holidays) and I loved their 2 for 1 dessert special. Both the sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble were perfect in taste, temperature, and portion size– not too big or too small.

Lovely, laid-back pub in Camden Town. Sadly, I left to the last minute to venture round Camden Town =( As a solo, female traveler who is slightly shy, I felt very at ease and welcomed in this pub. The dinning area is large enough to not feel crowded thanks to the high ceiling. The bar stuff is very friendly and happily provided a recommendation for local ale. It turned out to be good, says the non-beer drinker who knows nothing about it! I ordered the burger because they were out of risotto, which sounded quite good. The burger was ok(just don’t care too much about them). I only wish I would have mustered the courage to go on open mic night(but was too afraid of showing up alone!).

Harmless wipe-dry pub on Parkway with a decent beer selection and just-ok food. There are better places nearby, but this’ll do nicely for a cheap lunch and a catch up with mates. Fairly ununspiring, but not offensive.

Not a bad boozer this, big and decent vibe. Good location too. Was here for the Camden Crawl and it’s a good music venue. Also, all draught ales are £1.99 a pint on Mondays I noticed. Great offer that!

Sometimes you get what you pay for. I think the case in point is the Earl of Camden, who will lure you in with quite thrifty prices but then leave you wondering if there was something better in your fridge that you should have just ate at home. Ahh… and I’ll say this… open mic nights can probably be really cool if that’s what you’re after, but if you’re not after one… then avoid this place on a monday after 7.

This one’s OK. Big, lots of tables(though tricky to find one at the weekend) and a decent selection on tap. Food wasn’t great quality but was pretty good value when I was there last. Not bad for a drink with friends, though it gets very noisy at times.

Yep, I’m definitely a fan of this pub. 1.) They have a student discount! And they accepted my Santa Monica College ID which expired in 2006. 2.) Clean. 3.) Nice outdoor seating which is partially sheltered from the rain. 4.) Friendly people. 5.) Good beverages. What’s not to like?!

It almost seems a bit of a surprise to find real ale at this pub, let alone 3(albeit predictable) choices. This pub doesn’t seem the sort as it has quite loud music blaring out, except when the TVs(of which there are a few) are showing important sporting events. I am torn with my rating of this pub, but in the end have gone for a 3 because although this pub is not really my bag, more pubs like this should serve real ale. People can have good taste in beer but bad taste in music I’m sure :) …and I wouldn’t hesitate to watch a match here(think I did once about 4 years ago!). They are also deserving of praise as they give a 20% drinks reduction if you have the Camden Wedge card.

This is not the first time I have been here but it is the first time in a number of years I have set foot into this place. The Earl is a great place in Camden with a large selection of drinks on tap and behind the bar as well as a lovely food selection. A big stand out point for me was the fact it had Gaymers on tap and with the 20% discount(Oh didn’t I mention the 20% discount, yea, if you’re a student or have a student card you can 20% off of al drink AND food… score) meant that the drink came to less than £3, that is damn good for London. While I was at the Earl I got peckish and decided to try out the Mixed grill. I will say this is one of the best mixed grills I’ve ever had the pleasure of consuming. Two sausages, a large piece of gammon, a juicy and well cooked steak and a nice piece of bacon(not to much fat or salt) and it came with divine skinny fries and a good helping of salad. In all well worth the £5.80 I paid for it.

I don’t know why it seems uncool to say this, but I really like this pub. Maybe I’m missing something, but it seems like it isn’t considered a cool Camden hangout? Shrug. Perfect for lazy Sundays, it’s huge with massive leather couches and funky lightshades. We used to come all the time when we lived in Camden. Ignoring the slow service, we’d just chill out and wait for the friendly wait staff to eventually bring the food. Not exactly gourmet by any stretch of the imagination, but cheap and filling. Plus you can get two meals for the price of one, if you aren’t picky about bangers and mash, fish and chips type dishes. But I came in here last Saturday night, we snagged one of the big couches easily and the food came fairly quickly. They must be stepping up their game. They have a huge drinks menu and offer more than the usual beers and ales. Big screens for the footy fans too!

Very large bar/pub which is slightly out of step with the sterotypical ‘way of things’ in Camden. At the end of the day though, it is nice enough place with a big bar and quite enough staff to keep down waiting times. The music policy seemed slightly odd as they played 3 Dr Dre songs in a row on the night of the Camden Crawl but they followed up with a cracking live band whose lead singer reminded us of Andi Peters so they’re certainly pretty savvy with some of their music choices.

I can’t say a whole lot about the Earl, but I’ve eaten there once. On principle, a one-time experience never gets higher than 4 stars from me, so based on that, you can see that the one time was very good. They have a good selection of drinks and a friendly atmosphere on a Sunday afternoon, but the thing that really got my attention was that they serve one of the best veggie burgers I’ve ever eaten. Being a vegetarian in the UK, you get really really really tired of the typical mushy, fried, bubble-and-squeek style of veggie burger that is typically refered to by the code words: Spicy Bean Burger. If you’re a vegetarian new to the UK, when you see these words, run the other way. On the other hand, the Earl’s veggie burger was FANTASTIC! It was hearty and tasty, and was evocative of eating a real hamburger, while still being vegetarian. So take this one-dimensional review for what it is: one dimensional. If I get back there, I’ll try to share more, but most likely, I’ll just be eating more of that tasty, scrumptuous veggie burger.

The Earl of Camden, previously was The Hogs Head. If your looking for an interesting, or different pub don’t head here. it’s slightly plain jane, but it does what it does, and it does it pretty well. This place is probally best at lunchtime, or for a boozing lounging afternoon with friends, as the early evening can get pretty packed with thirsty office workers. I came here last to watch one of the final euro football matches on two on their very small(but un-intrusive sports screens). The place has a good clean, safe energy to it, its not wacky its not unique but its not bad either. Although i havent eaten here the menu looked pretty good, and not bad prices. They sell real ale and sometimes have live music.
